They're saying it was Sodium Nitrate with cellulose impregnation, which I didn't even know could explode.
Like someone on Totse said, I guess you can nitrate anything.

There’s gonna be a million reasons why people think this happened, and we still may never know what actually happened.
The news I’ve seen thus far said it wasn’t terrorism, but that it had to do with some form of corruption. That amount of those chemicals should have never been kept in a city.

Techno, the people who run the talking box in your house don't like the people in Beirut.
Hava Nagila will be playing in Tel Aviv tonight.

First thing we need to do is block the countries where these things happen from entering the west. Last thing we need is more shithead culture where they think blowing shit up will solve their problems.
Thing is we don't need to guess what the hell happened etc. It's not our problem. We should stay the fuck outta the middle east and not let them come here either.

Nitrates and other powerful oxidizers can spontaneously combust when they contact organic materials.
They have to be at critical mass, as in the Texas City ammonium nitrate explosion, or be mixed with a sensitizer. Even with a sensitizer though you'll almost always need a blasting cap plus booster charge, at least to get full detonation.
Back on totse, many pyros found you could detonate kno3 and nao3 etc but you'd need a sensitizer and boooster
Edit, guess they didn't know the mistakes of the past, this is why you compartmentalize.
A fire broke out at a chemical Bank I use sometimes and I suspected it was likely dust + strong oxidizers that did it. I could walk in there, sign a random name and walk out with 20 lbs nitrate or more if I wanted.
They were nice people but it's possible they were sloppy. I liked that I always got the msds there

This is why I cringe when I hear people cheer on deregulating industry. A simple fire watch, which would have been required by OSHA here, would have prevented this. Cheap ass Hezbollah takes another L.
