It's just 3 methyl morphine. I used to grow opium poppies, there isn't much difference other than bioavailability of regular morphine is rather low orally.
If you find a good way to convert morphine to codeine, you could become rich rather quickly. There's a huge market for it

It's not difficult at all, but the percentages of different opiates will be kinda random with garden poppies.
Most people convert the morphine to salt form because natural morphine is almost impossible to extract in pure form, but in my opinion it has a smoother high
