For something to have value to others it needs to contribute to the good of all, that usually involves growth.

A patch of potatoes needs to grow
    An investment needs to grow
Give a man a potato and he'll eat for a day, show him how to grow and cultivate them and he'll eat forever (or until potato blight kills them all).
    etc.

Watering a dead potato plant is pointless and a waste of water...that's what paying most welfare recipients is akin to.

They get the money back though. They just don't get more money. It's more like an apple tree where you water it and get the same amount of apples each time

No they don't get the same amount of money back.

    You consumed $20 of food.

    Gov gives you $20
    You buy $20 of food
Sales tax is about 8.5% here in Tejas...

So you pay $1.70 back into the pot.
The business owner has to pay for the food cost, rent, utils, wages etc...maybe he'll end up with a profit of $3 or so.

So $4.70 is return from the original $20. You're a $15.30 waste of space.

You're not good for it because I offered you money and you rescinded I mean how can you trust a man who doesn't accept free money?

That $15 goes to other companies who all pay taxes and the $3 profit anyone makes from any transaction is used to pay taxes so actually I am helping distribute cent amounts to various businesses. The only loss to the government is the small amounts that end up in people's personal savings which accumulate interest so actually it does end up growing on a very small scale.

Money is not a finite resource

No that $15.30 went in your belly dumbo in the form of the food you ate...you ate it, in turn that energy was burned up wanking to thoughts of Bill Krozby's banana. No one benefited from that $15.30 except you. It's now gone..converted into sweat and jizz.

The money went to the store I spent it at who in turn pays the distributors for more food they buy from manufacturers who pay farmers and producers.

Also it costs them very little to manufacture and sell. Markup is extremely high like $5 for a carton of milk when it really only costs them a few cents to make.
