Sometimes one would be surprised at what information comes out of what people... Some school teachers, college professors, etc., don't look their part. Most Sifu do not look like Sifu, and are almost always under-estimated. That can be deadly, depending where you are, or what country you're in. I never pay attention to an outward appearance over information. One should read the whole person. One's life may depend on it.

Seriously blows my fucking mind there is no certification to be a cop, and that they don't have to learn these techniques to keep people safe while taking them into custody.

Police academy doesn't actually issue a certification its just training and it lasts anywhere from 9 weeks to a few months.
It takes more training to become a hair dresser, and you do need a certification to do it that needs to be renewed every xx number of years.
Plus they can teach you whatever they want. There is no standard like with most professions. There is no MCAT type test they need to pass to prove they have this knowledge.
Our military handles personnel situations with ISIS better than cops handle Americans. They have far more culpability as well, and if they fuck up they are dishonorably discharged and are not allowed to join the military again.
If a cop fucks up he can just go to another police department. -
