That's why a good tracker used to be key. Remember Demonoid in it's day? They forced seeding by not allowing you to find torrents unless you had a good Upload:Download ratio -

Yeah, there's still a lot of really high quality private trackers around these days although all the good ones run on one or both of invites or interviews, both of which are a real pain in the ass. -

You don't get to force me to do anything fam. Also, Bitchute, how does it work? Legit question actually, i thought it was P2P/Torrent as well.
Also, i prefer a client/server model, because i can hide my identity from the server as in with XMPP, we have OTR protocol that makes it so the server can't read the messages. And if you route through Tor it can't tell where they are coming from either. It just forwards them to where they need to go.
I can't think of an equivalent with P2P. -

I can't speak to how bitchute works personally but I did find this: https://www.dailydot.com/upstream/bitchute-decentralization-claims/
Kinda funny if true. I could see it starting off as something p2p-ish but then switching to something centralized when running into all the complications that come with p2p systems. Honestly on-demand video hosting ala YouTube doesn't seem like a great fit for torrent style p2p models. Maybe IPFS would work better. -

I might be more inclined to read their article if they didn't put stuff like:Felix Lace, better known under the moniker “Black Pigeon Speaks,” who according to Harvard University’s Shorenstein Center is “xenophobic, misogynist, [and] anti-Semitic,” shills BitChute in his YouTube
In there. They obviously have never listened to a single video of his.
Is it a tech article or a political article? I can't tell.
No offense. -

Agreed, but my god the quality of the content was unmatched.
These days I guess it doesn't matter as much because movies and shit are typically ripped at an acceptable quality, although I pirated a couple movies recently that are just crystal clear. -

I mean yeah, obviously the article has a very clear anti-bitchute slant, but you can go open your browsers dev tools and load a bitchute video and see for yourself what they're saying: everything appears to loads from bitchute servers. Glancing the their documentation the only thing I see about decentralization was a big TODO saying "at some point we're going to use gun db... maybe". -
