4chan stopped being what it was in 2008, iichan several sites from the mid 00s are gone.
All that's left are turbo-newfag sites like 8chan.
7chan is still around but I never liked those normie douchebags.
I really want to build a website in the same vein as old-school imageboards and websites.
Besides HTML and PHP what other programming languages do I need to know to run an imageboards and general website.
Also I might run a shoutcast station in the same style as a real radio station in that I will host it and give commentary about the songs.
i remember BBSs back in the 80s that you'd call with a weeeee-woooo-skeeeeee-zzzzzz modem and were censored as bad as the ones now. the first time you hurt the feelings of the nerd who ran the 'website' (they didnt have websites back then...just a bunch of computers that called the same number) the nerd disco'd your phone call.
and...the phone calls were long distance so if you were on the line for more than five minutes either you were rich and could afford it or learned how to steal long-distance charges from the tel-co's.
and...stealing from the tel-cos was so much easier than it is now. short of stealing someones cell phone...which is even now getting difficult. -
