She's probably super upset about a sign that supposedly existed in a Shanghai park that said "No Dogs or Chinese" (It didn't) but not all upset about Mao killing 10s of millions of people with an artificial famine during peacetime (which he did). -

Ehhhhh. China didn't really get better till Deng came around and opened up the market.
Also Mao's 60's famine was the worst in history iirc.
Even Liu Shaoqi attributed it to CPC policy. -

Because the old system of farming was renting land out to the peasants, collecting crops, then distributing.
Ripe for corruption. In the past scribes were the only ones who could keep track of this shit so they were super corrupt. In Egypt many of them had tombs built for themselves. In Europe, scribes became lords this way.
Part of why Pol Pot wiped out like a fifth of his country or some shit, and why China was fucked for years and continued to be fucked under Mao.
Control over food is always an issue and this problem gets worse as a country grows. Look at the Irish famine. Plenty of food to go around. But the royalty was selling it abroad for profit instead of giving it to the people.
In our current system this isn't a thing but it used to be for a long, long time. -
