Then how does it just appear?
And is it a planet or a reservation on a planet?
And how do the staff get around without being seen?
And why keep massive amounts of robots in the field, including whole union and confederate armies?
And why, even after being shot hundreds of times and living hundreds of years, don't the robots ever need to be replaced? -

All these questions and more are answered in seasons 2 and 3, but some may find watching a show to be "hard work". -

Even the Star Trek science of how the guests can't be harmed?
I'd rather watch TNG. At least they make up some babble about quadrion fields and tachion impulses to explain their magic science abilities. -

Actually they explained that in season 1 but you must have dozed off or something. -

yeah all that stuff gets explained throughout the series.
short version:
1. it doesn't just appear, it comes from a tunnel that connects the park, to the administration section, to the outside world
2. a reservation, though I don't know if it's ever made clear how big or where it is
3. underground tunnels like disneyland, a lot of this is shown in later episodes
4. realism I guess
5. they do, sometimes they get destroyed or damaged irreperably -

actually this one bugged me.
at first it makes sense that the guns can only harm 'hosts' and give humans a nasty shock because you assume that it's not a real gun and that the damage on the host gets triggered remotely like a squib or something, but later on when 'safeties' come off they can punch holes in humans and hosts alike. -

If the trick is with the guns then what about knives, punches, or simple accidents, like falls from horses?
Shouldn't staff appear every time a guest gets hurt? They are holiday makers after all.
And shouldn't guests be told how to turn hosts off, like why do the guests even run from them like they do all the time in Season one when they can just tell them to piss off?
And why does the good guy/evil guy guest in season one just not end his holiday early and take his sex bot home? I mean who gives a fuck, it's just a robot right?
And was he really naieve enough to bother with that silly maze nonsense?
And why does he just piss off back to the game when talking to real world people. Especially early morning. I mean I'd be like "I've been out here all night tied up - lets go have coffee and breakfast, and maybe I can shower too". -

yep, I don't have an answer for that either

this is more narrative stuff that gets explained as time goes on so I won't go into it. how much have you seen? -
2020-05-04 at 3:35 AM UTCSeason finale of season 3 was really good. Set up the series for a 4th season too.
-
2020-05-04 at 3:39 AM UTCI'm downloading 3 now. As an aside 8 episodes seem really short for a season, though a lot of series seem to be going for shorter seasons lately

2020-05-12 at 1:54 AM UTCOnly the first two episodes.
Actually reminds me a lot of Attack on Titan how it starts in an enclosed world with no indication that anything beyond the walls is important to the story, then unexpectedly opens up -

it's a popular anime, pretty good though it really has nothing to do with westworld.
it starts out with kids who live in a walled city that's presumed the last human stronghold left in the world, perpetually under siege by giant cannibals, and after a few seasons it becomes apparent there are things going on outside and they're not as alone as they assumed
