I just read this and got a WTF???

What exactly does the U.S. military know about Covid-19 that precludes then from taking any otherwise healthy young person for service? What exactly are the after effects of Covid that we don't know about...yet?

Coronavirus Survivors 'Permanently Disqualified' from Joining U.S. Military

    Daniel Villarreal

A memorandum from the U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command (MEPCOM) says applicants who have previously tested positive for the COVID-19 novel coronavirus won't be allowed to serve in the armed forces, according to Military Times.

The authenticity of the memorandum has been verified by the Pentagon.

"During the medical history interview or examination, a history of COVID-19, confirmed by either a laboratory test or a clinician diagnosis, is permanently disqualifying," the memo reads.

During the screening process, a reported history of confirmed COVID-19 will be annotated as €considered disqualifying.

Additionally, the memo lays out guidelines for handling possible and confirmed coronavirus cases in applicants. It says any applicants at any of the 65 nationwide Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) should be evaluated for possible coronavirus infection, most likely through a temperature check and questions about their symptoms and possible contact with infected individuals.

If an applicant seems likely positive for the coronavirus, they can return to the MEPS if they're symptom-free after 14 days. Anyone who tests positive through a lab test or clinical diagnosis can return to MEPS 28 days after their diagnosis.

However, their application will be marked as "permanently disqualifying," and while applicants can request a waiver the memo offers no further guidance for possible COVID-19 exceptions, meaning that "a review authority would have no justification to grant a waiver," says the Military Times.

This ban applies uniquely applies to coronavirus survivors while allowing applicants with histories of other viral, non-chronic illnesses to enter the military.

Newsweek reached out to the Department of Defense for further information. This story will be updated with any response.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.

You’re kidding me? They are shooting themselves in the foot. Before this is over 50-60% of the population will have had it, and that’s a conservative number.

Tech, how you doing, babe? I hope things went well and you're recovering nicely. Call me if you need someone to kiss it and make it all better!

Seriously, do you have any info that would explain this decision? What are the known and suspected after effects of contracting this bug?

    Thanks doll.

It actually depends on the severity, I’m sure. Some get permanent lung damage from it, some just get a minor illness. There has to be a way to screen them about how severe it was.

My guess is that since there are so many unknowns, they don’t want to get stuck with future medical bills

I've read that even if you recover it keeps coming back.
It mutates and strike back stronger and with a vengeance.
So basically if you get it, you're dead.
