    also, update:

    I'm still sick

Civilized people would either stay home or at least if you have to go out wear a mask or generally try not to infect other people. If your lab partner was a dick that doesn't justify you spreading it around.

Are you for real? Sick people go out in the world all the fucking time. Who has the time to skip a week of work/school/whatever because you have a cold and could infect others? And lol like he's just going to "miss a lab." That's pretty much tantamount to at least a whole letter grade reduction in this class, so I don't blame him for coming. Are you sure you studied CS? Also LOL there is no way in hell I'm going to be THAT white guy that wears a fucking facemask to go hang out with Asian friends.

Actual businesses that exist to turn a profit tell their employees not to come to work if they're sick, it's better to have a few employees out for a week than half your workforce being sick. I mean yeah, most college students probably still go to school when they're sick but that doesn't make it a good idea. You can get a doctor's note or some shit if you're worried about your grade.

Not to be a dick but undergrad CS was easy enough that I never had to worry about taking a few days off if something came up, I skipped midterms more than once and came out with a pretty good GPA.

What businesses tell people (seriously) not to come to work when they're sick? I mean I'm sure there are some but I've never worked for any that do.

That's almost not even mathematically possible at the school I go to. A lot of my classes grade like 10% homework, 35% midterm and 55% final, give or take 5-10%. If you miss a midterm you better have all your homework straight and get like a 100% on the final (avg usually like 50-60%), and even then, you're dropping your grade from an A to probably a C or C-.

With one exception every place I've ever worked has told me that. I mean it makes sense for pretty much anywhere that doesn't pay their employees hourly.

Finals were weighed heavier than that where I went to school but you can reasonably take a few Cs and keep over a 3.5, I mean you take like what, 60 some courses over a college career? There's some room to fuck around in there.
