    How do you know how the program is effected?? Obviously even in an A.I. environment any decisions (re: thoughts) made by the A.I. will change the next program steps.

    You've got it in reverse, thought is an emergent property of the arrangement of matter that constitutes a human being. That arrangement has to, by definition follow the rules of physics. Or the 'code' if you prefer.

    But i don't believe we live in a simulation and i do believe in free will.
