He demodded both me and the girl and banned us from the channel. She called me while I was at work to yell at me for telling people about it so that was the end of that.
I don't remember her name or IRC handle, sad.
That sounds like something from a 90's movie about cool hackers.

2020-04-05 at 8:13 PM UTCA few years ago, I noticed my city's name wasn't taken as a username on Reddit, though there was a pretty dead subreddit for my city. There was not much leadership or anarchy, so I snagged the handle and started reposting local news articles on a daily basis. Traffic started picking because of my threads, and some weeks later, when the mods eventually bothered to sign on, they saw my work and assumed it had come from a professional employed by the city.
They extended me a moderator invitation, which I graciously accepted, without bothering to have so much as a conversation—let alone a proper interview. It was too easy. I proceeded to post stickied threads warning locals about law enforcement activity in the area, such as DUI checkpoints. After a couple of months of this, I was noticed, and my position was revoked.

My judgement of you now, as opposed to previous, would be useless and pointless and irrelevant, because you have no powers right now. You would have to have powers for me to judge how you behave in possession of said powers. Lanny would have to give you powers, and then I could properly re-evaluate you. -

Don't try to bait and switch Lanny into this. He's doing a fine job. He bans spammers, sometimes Bennie gets caught up in it because he'll quote Bill Krozby dick. I know you like to rule lawyer. But that shit doesn't fly with Lanny.
I am sure you are thinking of the 'Lanny banned me 50k times episode' but really. Lanny didn't like you way before that, he could have script banned you way before. I think it was a bit of a 'fuck this, i'm done with this bullshit' kind of thing. M&A was toxic as fuck. So for several reasons i think Lanny decided to go out with a bang.
And it was as much of a fuck you as it was a fuck the mods. Because we had to reverse the 50k bans. Mizled spent 4 hours doing that by hand and i helped her for a good hour of that. That's how it happened. Go ask Mizled. Wherever she may be. -
