   "Idea" doesn't inherently have that connotation though. "Memetics" is a word that relates to the spread of ideas. They are not the same thing. Or, put another way, an idea contains memetic information and memetics refers to the discussion of how the information contained within an idea is spread. It's like saying "life" and "genetics" mean the same thing.
