The strain of coronavirus behind the a growing global crisis kills 3.4 percent of all patients, the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned.
Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the UN body, said current figures show the infection is three times deadlier than flu, which kills less than one percent of patients on average.
According to data relayed by the WHO on Tuesday, coronavirus's mortality rate is higher than previously estimated, making it more dangerous than some experts and government officials have implied.
He noted that there are vaccines and treatments for flu and, although more than 20 vaccine candidates are in development, alongside a number of therapeutics, none are currently available, adding coronavirus' relative danger.
Told ya so. But don't worry, it'll be even higher than 3.4% soon. And that's not the worst part, as I said in another thread. Worst is, even if it doesn't kill you, it may permanently scar your lungs so that death from bacterial pneumonia or another virus is much more likely to kill you.
Blood oxygen level. If you have a PPM meter in your house, you'll notice the more people there are in the house, the higher the number, or breathe on it, the number goes up. If a virus like this damages the lungs and decreases blood oxygen levels, and it is definitely related to spanish flu which did the same thing, that might explain why people do better outdoors during the day, when infected.
EDIT:So far, nine out of 137 people confirmed to have coronavirus in the US have died, putting the infection's fatality rate for Americans at 6.6 percent.
Too many libtards anyway. -

2020-03-04 at 8:46 PM UTCThe percentage of fatalities in the US is skewed because it literally infected an entire nursing home, they’re all old fucks there and much more likely to die

2020-03-04 at 8:49 PM UTCYeah not enough data yet. Most "experts" say the reported numbers are not even close to the probably actual number of infections...so no it's not 2% 3% or 6%..it's likely below 1%.
Time will tell as more data is gathered. Still it's mostly old fucks who die anyway so who cares? -

According to George Carlin there's a difference between "old fucks" and "old farts"
technically it is mostly "old farts" that die from it, and that's good, because they often vote for democrats/communists -

CONFIRMED CASES! There's barely been any testing. Unless you've got severe symptoms, or are hospitalized, they're not using one of their valuable test kits on you!
The amount of cases is anybody's guess. It could be in the tens of thousands in the US already. I've as such got a hunch the mortality rate is between 0.1% and 0.2%. -

That's not actually true. They changed the guidelines for testing recently. It costs 9,000$ per test, but that's the CDC's test. State governments can make their own tests for much cheaper. Anyhow, all you have to do to get tested now is ask your doctor about it, and show (actually just report) certain symptoms. You do not need to be hospitalized, at least not in the US. -

So you think that the confirmed cases are the only cases? Doesn't matter how much the tests costs or where they get it from. Majority of people with it who show no severe symptoms still won't get tested. Especially not in the US where you may have to pay for that doctor's visit. There's likely more cases than there's test kits, that number could be twenty fold. Which if it turns out to be, 0.1% mortality rate. -

A lot of people are likely to be infected and not seek medical treatment because they don't want to be quarantined. That's it. Pretty simple.
Fatality rate is likely going to end up being around 10 to 15% eventually. But telling people that if you're an authority on this sort of thing is stupid, because it'll just make people panic more. -
2020-03-08 at 5:32 PM UTCI'll take those odds. Corona-chan, my body is ready.

10-15% are you crazy. The amount of cases being confirmed exceeds the rate of deaths twenty fold. If you take into account unconfirmed cases, death rate could be as low as 0.1%. If it were 10 - 15%, there'd be a million deaths by now. -
2020-03-08 at 5:45 PM UTCi really do hope that corona destroys the US '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''healthcare''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' system. i don't like or want socialized medicine, either though. i just want there to be no hospitals for anyone to go to anymore.
