I won't go so far as to say social networks should be too, but if you want to access that it should be when you're at home on a computer.
Smartphones are detrimental to society and should be banned.
Sooner or later either humanity will wise up and end this sickness or they'll be drawn to extinction.

Back in the MySpace days things were just fine.
When the iPhone came out things were still ok, but around 2012 things went downhill when tge public was encouraged (brainwashed) into joining in on the web 2.0 fad.
In an ideal world people would own flip phones and use their desktops at home for social networking.
The Japanese used flip phones all the way up to 2014 - 2017, which I thought was primitive back then but looking back at it now they were in the right.

Banning things doesn't work. Also, you could never enforce it. Unless you make it exceedingly cost-prohibitive down the entire production line from China, to Vietnam, Japan whatever and all the things in between until it finally reaches America, where you are going to have to enforce these laws on your own enterprises.

If I had a kid, I'd give them a dumb phone. Idc if your friends make fun of you. You don't get a WiFi browsing device till you're 14 and trying to joik it.
