Greek Riots (02-2020)
-
2020-02-27 at 2:35 AM UTCBasically Greece is already being used as a 'refugee' containment facility in a vain attempt to control their flow into Western Europe, and the Greek government is trying to build more detention centres on the islands (specifically Lesbos now) even though the locals are already being punished by rampant crime and decimation of local economies.
As a result of this nonstop invitation-invasion, many of the locals are up in arms. Most media is only showing small, 'peaceful' protests, but indications from 4chan and social media are that the situation is much worse than is being let on and the unrest is spreading. Unverified reports are that large crowds have overwhelmed riot control units in many areas, and that some among those protesters have actually taken up arms, driving police to barricade themselves in police stations and army bases.
At least 14x 12-man riot squads have been sent from different parts of the country to quell unrest in the islands, and locals have not taken kindly to their arrival.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/feb/26/greeks-clash-again-with-riot-police-over-new-migrant-campsOn Lesbos, locals engaged in hand-to-hand combat with police who attempted to disperse demonstrators gathered at the hilltop site earmarked for the new facility with tear gas and stun grenades.
On Chios, irate locals stormed a hotel used by a police unit dispatched from Athens, injuring at least eight officers. They then made off with their clothes.
A day earlier, squads of riot police were sent to the islands with bulldozers and other heavy machinery to begin construction of installations that have infuriated communities who had previously exhibited extraordinary compassion towards refugees.
I'm keeping an eye out for more fun media; this is shaping up to be an event of similar scale to the Ukrainian Maidan riots, though this time it's totally grassroots and not foreign-orchestrated. -

2020-02-27 at 7:10 AM UTCGood for them, to fight a tyrannical gov't. Not the first time the people of Greece will be fighting tyranny. Also afaik guns are quite readily owned by the civilian population. Gov't better think twice. Your video was taken down btw, goes to show.

Erdogan's on the verge of making a cataclysmic mistake
Russia bombed a HTS stronghold in Idlib and killed 33+ Turkish soldiers who were just there building schools and hospitals no doubt.
He backed off blaming Russia directly but he's now claiming that it was a Syrian strike and that he's going to start hammering Syrian army positions. -

In Greece, there are laws regarding possession of certain types of firearms so common in the U.S. Semi-automatic assault weapons require special authorization as do possession of handguns. A genuine reason must be provided to possess a firearm in Greece and there is a system of background checks as well.Oct 5, 2013
Pitiful, yet some of us can take 5$ worth of items from a walmart or hardware store and make a rocket launcher that will take out tanks and armored vehicles in a matter of minutes. No permit required, and when it's your freedom or your life on the line, fuck the laws and fuck the government. -
