   Gargoyle chased evil spirits away. its not that the Church was secretly worshipping Lucifer as some people suggest. it's the opposite. they're not demonic but rather just serve a purpose to frighten bad souls from entering the church.
   
   and they're pretty cool looking too.
   
   Also reminds me of a great 1970s TV movie.. hasn't dated much. still a great film to watch
