Frostpunk - free on Epic store

Frostpunk is a pretty fun game, it's a city resource management survival game set in a frozen world where humanity is on it's last legs. You have to keep your generator from blowing up while managing coal and using it for heat to keep people alive. If you don't have enough heat they lose limbs which makes them mine coal slower. But you can do stuff like enact child labor laws and cut the soup with sawdust to give yourself a chance at survival.

It's a unique concept for a resource management game where instead of being able to progress and get stuff done, with this game all you do is make choices to manage what little scarce resources you have and if it's worth a few people losing limbs or dying just to keep the heat on for everyone

this game is FUCKED its just constant getting fucked over, I thought I was doing so well I maxed out the generator and got lots of resources and then the temperature KEPT GOING DOWN the game just says NAH SON FUCK YOU and expects you to figure it out, people will die, use them as fertilizer except OH WAIT ITS TOO COLD TO GROW CROPS

i have to choose between letting half my people freeze to death or risk running the generator on overdrive and it blowing up and ending my game

I use children to work the areas most likely to cause frostbite because if they die or lose limbs it's not as bad as an adult who can do important jobs. People get upset but I just beat them until they stop complaining and then have lots of church service to lower discontent

So is there any ending? The game just get progressively harder till u die?

I haven't beat it yet, there are "endings" i think like a good ending/bad ending. I think it's like a "losing is fun" type of game where everyone dying is an ending you can get. There is also an endless mode with no story like a sandbox mode

I'm probably gonna lose, I put all my resources into upgrading the generator but it doesn't make houses and warmer and I don't even have houses unlocked, I have shacks. WOOPS

I can't help but feel there is an approach / playstyle that will win 100% of the time and if that's the case, then its kinda lame.

    Keep us posted man.

sounds like something some big fossil fuel company made to propagandize and brainwash the minds of young and malleable kids into accepting coal energy as part of their natural lives.

I thought I outsmarted the game by being really good at micro managing but i'm surprised at the amount of shit they throw at you.

There are so many systems in place that constantly work against each other and when you do anything it fucks something up so you try to fix something it costs resources, try to get more resources and it costs discontent, lowering discontent costs food, food needs lots of heating which costs more resources.

it's set in like the early 1900s but they had robots and shit it's a neat setting. The robot saved my ass because they can work in the cold 24/7. But I still force people to work in the cold 24/7 anyways KEK because I need steel but I don't make prosthetics because it costs too much steel even though the reason they lose limbs so much is because of the steel mill.

I should put a heater over there but 10 people working in frostbite conditions isn't that bad. It would be 20 people if i didn't have the robot

I'm really tempted because i've always been a fan of these kinda games ever since settlers. But having the weather as your enemy, and being unable to expand outside of your crater seems.. i duno, dull.

yeah i'm kinda salty that it only lets me have one outpost expedition and I don't see any way on the tech tree to get more. The game has lots of expansions though which is why it was free

I beat the game in the stupidest way by turning the generator on and off 1% before it blows up because I messed up and miscalculated how long I had left. GG fun game, endless seems cool. I thought the story would keep going but it just ends.

here is a screenshot of my city. It's pretty fucked compared to those other ones and looks more like a giant industrial facility, which it is.

looking at other peoples cities lol jesus christ I only built 5 houses I DIDNT KNOW YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO ONLY USE TENTS AT THE START

75% of my people got frostbite at the end

this looks a lot better than mine whoa snow on roofs its like a winter village
