Currently rendering a 4 hour long video to H.265 in avidemux (it's gameplay footage) and it's extremely slow, the eta is 70 hours so it'll probably take two and a half days to finish.
I'm using a laptop i3 CPU.
What's a great CPU for video rendering under $500?
I will be transcoding gameplay footage to h.265 as they come and I'm looking at thousands of hours over the course of months or a year.

The CPU is the central processing unit. You can have a great CPU, but if your GPU (graphics processing unit) is shit, it won't help you.

Pretty sure gpu doesn't really make a difference when rendering files in avidemux.
I know some video editors can make use of GPU power, but so doubt avidemux does that.
