Looking for something to watch in celebration of Halloween? Then peep this list
1 - Session 9
For some reason this movie has always stuck with me, idky. It's very intense in a deep subconscious way. If you enjoy psychological thrillers/horror you'll enjoy this.
2 - Kairo
Psychological horror about hikikomori, one of my favs. This movie also features inspiration from the Japanese web experience "The Red room" (I think I don't remember) that influenced Natsumi Tsuji aka Nevada-tan.
3 - The Ring
back in the early 00s it was a common theme in hollywood to remake Japanese horror movies, this was one of if not the only good one This movie is what made me want to move to Seattle (RIP).
4 - Cube
I won't say anything about this movie because simply describing it would spoil the whole thing. If you liked the Saw movies you'll enjoy this.
5 - The Blair Witch
In today's day and age any asshole can go on the web and read everything about anything, but back in 1999 not as many people had access to the internet so something like Blair Witch was really easy to take off. The premise was that this was a real honest to goodness home video recording of some people who went out to the woods in search of a demonic presence. Watching this on VHS as an 8 year old really spooked the fuck out of me, honestly I thought it was real at the time which made it so much more interesting. On its own in the year 2019 knowing it's not real you can still very much enjoy it for the aesthetics.
