EQUIFAX LAWSUIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CLAIM MONEY CLAIM STUFF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
2019-07-24 at 8:27 PM UTCEquifax lawsuit that affects half of all Americans means you can file for either $125 OR 4 years of credit monitoring from all 3 Bureaus and another 6 years from Equifax after that. I signed up for the credit monitoring because A. I wasn't affected by the breach, and B. I might try getting the $125 with a different mailing address and a different name.
To claim fraud damages you have to submit evidence, but for the (UP TO, depending on how many people claim) $125 or credit monitoring (sure thing, worth a lot more money long term) you don't need any. -
2019-07-24 at 8:56 PM UTCI already have credit monitoring so I signed up for the cash (months ago)...though It thought it was only $40 or something. I know it's in the news now but I got a notification Jeez, probably the end of last year or early this year telling me to sign up for it.
Edit: oh no, that one I signed up for was Experian Data breach, I still have the notification card here in my office. -
2019-07-26 at 4:05 PM UTCI filed my claim this morning, went with the $125 check.

2019-07-26 at 8:38 PM UTCIdk if im eligable, because the form was until took one minute and no documaentation needed... but I figure they might now be more willing to guve me a code for their sevices than to wrote me a check when I wasn't actully affectiveut
Credit monitoring is very expensive, so it's a better value, but if you don't need to be checking your credit more than once a year, it's kinda pointless.
And also I probably don't need this because I get my FICO score on Discover app anytime I want. -

Name address and date of birth is enough to identify you, they have all your other info obviously.
btw, you were likely affected...just because the info wasn't..or hasn't been used yet, your info was likely stolen (1 out of every 2 Americans)...that's being affected.
They'll know if your info was part of the stolen info...they'll send you a check if you was.
As you noted it takes 2 mins to fill out the form with a 50% chance of getting $125. -
2019-07-26 at 9:08 PM UTCOn the website there's a tool that tells you if you were affected or not.. That makes sense because I had no credit history until 1 year ago

Just checked, it says I was affected.
btw, they said on the radio this morning there is only a limited pool of money and after the first 250,000 claims the $ amount will decrease until the cash pool is gone. -

I did the redbull wings one a while ago and that's all it was. Got a check for 5 dollars or something in the mail, and also a 4 pack of redbull. Then a year later I got another check for the exact same amount.
It's petty shit but it was free so meh.
Gonna check on this later today. Hopefully I'm eligible. I love these class action lawsuits. Willing to bet nobody is getting 125 tho, it usually depends on how many sign up.
