2018-11-29 at 11:21 PM UTCOtes Cattox, A Rock Gnome Trickery Cleric of the dark lord Asmodeus.
Otes grew up in a rough neighborhood, he was raised in the church community but became disillusioned with the gnomish pantheon and fell into a bad crowd of satanic worshipers of Asmodeus
Otes was always playing pranks and tricking people to distract himself from the rough and tumble streets of his bad neighborhood. He became a devout follower of Asmodeus and quickly realized he could win favor with his God by tormenting non believers and converting them to his faith.
He now wanders the world causing trouble and spreading terror in the name of the Supreme Master of the Nine Hells. He hopes to trade his soul for incredible wealth so he can spread further chaos on the world.
His favorite kind of trick is wearing a clever disguise and making a duplicate of himself to cause bar fights and riots as his alter ego. -

2018-12-01 at 4:38 PM UTCAnd I'm a tiefling warlock who spent most of her life as a librarian, reading books in search of powerful ancient knowledge. During my time in the library, I stumbled across a book - bound in a dark material, so unnaturally dark that it terrified me. That night, as I slept, I had a nightmare about that book and found myself in the lair of the night serpent, Dendar. The book, black as the void, was actually bound in some of her scales, which she had given to the first mortal who had fed her - the first mortal to have a nightmare, as that is what her diet consists of... nightmares. She offered me a deal: power and knowledge, in return for my service. And I agreed. Now, my duty is to go out into the world and be a source of nightmares for her. To see things that give me nightmares, and to be the thing that causes them in others. I'm also guarding the book I found, lest anyone get their hands on it and find themselves experiencing the same terror I had when I awoke within that nightmare and found myself within her lair... UwU

Lost his family farm to zombies
Zombies seem to follow him everywhere
Franklin is renowned for his zombie slaying and drinking abilities. His homeland was overrun by a powerful necromancer and his family farm destroyed by undead. He has traveled and hunted zombies ever since he was 16 years old.
Franklin is an agent of the Lords Alliance, a group of allied political powers concerned with mutual security and prosperity.
Franklin is my replacement for Sildar Hallwinter in the Lost Mines of Phandelver module. I decided to use Franklin as a hireling and instead of Sildar Hallwinter joining you with no armor or weapons I instead decided to roll a human fighter with gear. He has an explorer pack, an iron pot for melting tin and splashing it in people's faces, 2 handaxes, brewers tools and a box of buttons, the only item left from his childhood.
I've made it a rule that if Franklin rolls a 20 on throwing the buttons the enemy slips on them and gets knocked down in combat. 19 hits them in the eyes.
Franklin was hired along with the the hero's to escort the caravan of Gundren Rockseeker to Phandalin -

2018-12-05 at 1:48 PM UTCI've never played or filled out a character sheet, but I toyed with the idea of a character named Dirge who was an elder student in a monastic sect that mortified the flesh to gain enlightenment. As a boy he lived on a highland farm with his family. One night drunken bandits attack his household, and the sadistic leader (insert cool name here) takes a strange liking to the boy and makes him an offer- he will leave the family unharmed, and with a bag of gold enough to last them a year....if he would simply keep his mouth shut. And then proceeds to hold the boys arm over a torch. His father is eviscerated. One by one his family is slaughtered and raped as he Cried out, unable to deal with the various tortures. He is left broken and alone, in the farmhouse with the rotting bodies of his family, until he is discovered by a traveler. he seeks out the order to master his body and mind, and reconcile suffering and the shame of having failed those he loves. Chaotic good. These years later, he sees the bandit who murdered his family simply as an extension of fate, and a teacher in a sense. And rather than vengeance, he sees it as his place to either redeem this man, die himself, or kill him in service of balance.
He'd be large like me, with scarification scars all over his body, that makes him especially resistant to damage. 3 large ring piercings in each side of his back have a ball and chain interlaced through, terminating with the heavy ball weight. These are often wound around the biceps and forearm for mobility, but generally are worn dragging behind them, as a reminder of their burden. From his waist hangs a small metal censer that he can use to burn different psychoactive plants that can either buff himself or the party, or weaken, mind control and terrify enemies. In my mind, he,d be a sort of alt-tank. Capable of dealing serious damage, but also can support by using certain spells/perception/healing, etc. -
2018-12-05 at 2:07 PM UTCHuman planar sorcerer, very smart, friendly guy with off-the-charts charisma and a rich backstory that I won't post here because the campaign is still active and my peers don't know I'm horrible yet. So far I guide the party with Akashic visions, but otherwise, I'm a Haste monkey.

2018-12-10 at 1:35 PM UTCI ran LMoP last night, my first time DM'ing I think I did an alright job. Rolled 3 20's for different enemies. The party cleared out the cave with minimal hassle and everyone gained a level.
Now the party is at Phandalin with around 40 gp each.
Here's some custom NPC's I made for the campaign that you can add to your own LMoP if you want.
Lanny (Lanar) the hill dwarf cleric that hangs out at the Stonehill Inn. He tells you the mayor has a job clearing out orcs and joins the party for 3/gp per day as a hireling. I gave him the stats for the level 1 Hill Dwarf from the starter set
MEAT half orc - meat hangs out in the center of town and runs a stall selling "CRD ON STIK" (written on the wooden sign) which is basically roadkill on a stick. He also sells rat, tiger and wolf meat and will buy the dead horses from the start of the campaign for 5gp each.
Old Turnip - A blind beggar that roams around town looking for money
I added this to the goblin trail, old turnip sets off the smoke stick and blows your cover if you ignore him while you are cutting someone from the trap
(between goblin trap encounter)
2 dead bodies
-Dead Man-
3 gp
Smokesticks (1 sticks, 20 gp each)
-Dead Woman-
3 pp
another NPC vendor
Sketchy Back Alley Vendor-*can invest in business*
Bone Dust
Blood Vials
Mystery Meat
dagger
Poison
buys stolen goods
-criminal contact
poisoners kit
thieves tools
forgery kit
diguise kit
Phandalin
