Nope, just because people have believed in something crazy for a long time, doesn't mean it actually exists. However, I'll happily buy the argument, that people need an explanation for why they keep screwing up, and that instead of taking responsibility for their own lives, it's easier to blame something that's out of their control. It's the exact same thing with religion.

I was once having a conversation with a guy who claim his entire family believed they had been cursed by a rival family. They had been invited over for a dinner, but apparently the food had been tampered with/was dirty and the family who invited them over didn't eat it. He believed this caused the curse. He believed the curse had brought upon his family poor health, baldness, difficulty in achieving success. He also told me that every member of his family was saving something like 10% of every paycheck they got and were sending it to some magic man in another country who claimed to be curing their curse. He claimed they had sent him nearly half a million over the course of a couple years.
They were probably actually funding terrorism or something like that.
If somebody is living a shitty, degenerate lifestyle without trying to become their best selves and endures subsequent suffering
That is literally as real a curse as you can get
"Sceptical" cunts who reject supernatural occurrences (well done you intellectual cunt, I heard 5+5 is 10 as well) are notorious for actually making fake shit like "curses" act as real phenomena upon themselves
I don't believe in god because of the determinism involved in it. But biological and environmental determinism is real, but not mutually exclusive to free will. Not every shitty thing that happens to a person is their fault, sometimes is bad genes or family/culture. When these things happen people try to find reasons for them happening. When I was 11 I started getting severe panic attacks, I thought god was punishing me because I looked at porn but really it was just biological and environmental factors but no one told me that and I had to figure it out for myself. People are just animals, is it really the cows fault when it gets butchered? This applies to success as well, sometimes you work for it and earn it and sometimes you get lucky, sometimes that luck is really just good genetic material.
