2022-05-28 at 6:42 PM UTC in OPINION:Our greatest public health crisis? The angry young American maleIt's fucked because the shooters are also a result of how the society is failing its children, and while the author seems to pay a little lip service to that idea she spends most of the article talking about disaffected, isolated young men as a cancer that needs to be destroyed. Which, you know, is going to make them more isolated and disaffected.

Exactly. Omnicide is the only viable option.
Originally posted by Meikai Antinatalism is a fine thing. Truly, the act of bringing new life into this world is a heinous thing. A pure act of selfishness and weakness driven by humanity's spineless inability to resist the genetic urge to reproduce. Nobody has a baby for the sake of the baby. To devote oneself philosophically to a path that aims to reduce the amount of suffering in this world by preventing new creatures from entering into it is a noble thing. But this only addresses new life…
What of the old life? Established life? Things that are already here, living?
I propose a new school of thought: antivitalism. Life is a plague. A corruption of the inherent beauty of the purely mechanical, physical universe. It should not exist. Its existence in this universe is wrong, abhorrent, and this fundamental incompatibility lies at the root of all suffering. Humanity should dedicate itself to the eradication of all life, everywhere, ending finally with itself once our role as The Annihilator is complete. We are, conveniently, already well on the path to this assuming that life only exists in this one place. Anthropogenic factors are at the heart of an ongoing mass extinction event - this should not be "rectified" by the so called "green", life-loving peaceniks. Indeed, this should be lauded as one of our greatest and finest accomplishments. The presence of life in this reality is like so much excrement on God's finest china. I therefore posit that that is the great evil which should be rectified posthaste.
Thank you. That is all. -

Originally posted by Donald Trump Do you think Monks should have offered Vikings eucharist? Even after a dozen raids?
Not quite the same, on account of the Vikings not being Catholic. If they were though - baptized and all - I think some monks certainly would have given them the Eucharist despite the sin and atrocity they were responsible for. I also think many wouldn't have, and I understand that. Clergy are human and flawed and can't be expected to fully embody Christ's love at all times. The ones who would give a convert Viking the Eucharist are the Christian ideal though. -

Originally posted by Sophie Being banned from partaking in communion is a bigger deal than you might imagine, at least if you're a Catholic. It's not like the Church is cancelling you. The Eucharist is supposed to contain Jesus within it, which is why the priest says something about Corpus Christi of the body of Christ as well when preparing the sacrament. To have someone a grave a sinner as Pelosi partake of the body of God in the form of Jesus the Christ, would be an insult and an affront to God Himself. Blasphemy in a sense.
Yeah, I'm not sure how Christ would feel about all that though. Dude's whole schtick was kinda... y'know... redeeming fucked up, impure, broken people. Kind of feels like the good archbishop might be being a tad overzealous in deciding that access to the Christ should be limited only to the morally pure and righteous. Jesus isn't going to catch Pelosi's cooties. It's arguably blasphemy, in a sense, to deny the eucharist. The Pope himself has never done so, and doesn't seem to believe it to be in line with the clergy's role in shepherding humanity. They're supposed to be shepherding people to Christ, not preventing them from being exposed to Him. -

Originally posted by Sudo Aren't full auto rifles illegal in most states? Also most Assault rifles fire 5.56/.223s which is a good size caliber. Canada banned a couple hundred of what they called "assault rifles" but many were actually used for hunting and I don't think any came full auto.
I thought assault rifle was just a catch all term for any rifle that was mobile, semi auto and not typically used for hunting. It's funny people think the AR in AR 15 stands for assault rifle
Specifically it has to be select fire to be an assault rifle. If it's just got "safe" and "full auto" then my brother-in-christ you are not holding an assault rifle, you are blessed to be holding a genuine bona fide machinegun. If it's just got "safe" and "semi auto" you are holding a rifle. Just a rifle (which may or may not be patterned after an existing model of assault rifle, see: AR-15s, Norinco AK look-a-likes in Canada).
PS: Fully automatic guns in the states are... legal, but restricted. To my (limited) knowledge they aren't outright banned in any state? Even California. No new ones are allowed to be produced for civilian sale, but guns that existed prior to the ban going into effect in '86 are - again, to my knowledge - legal nationwide. You just have to have a federal firearm license and pay for a $200 tax stamp to buy one/transfer ownership. The biggest thing preventing most people from getting their hands on one is the cost of the guns themselves, on account of the limited supply and collectors snapping them all up. -

How the fuck they work?
You have to lock the ammo, and make sure they have power running to them (I also had some issues with this - thought they were wired up right but they weren't). -
