It arrived while I was on LSD, so I spent ages playing with the sand and not being happy with how it was set up. The sand is 20% clay, so sets hard when it is wetted. I kept wetting it and trying to mold it. Eventually I just mixed it all up, poured it in and gave up.
The queen is in the test tube in the foraging area. She is one of those ants who eats seeds, apparently they're a real pest in Spain, which is where I ordered this from. She has about 5 little workers right now and a bunch of eggs. Apparently she can have around 200 workers when the colony gets going.
There are some seeds in the tube, and I dropped a grain of rice and a droplet of honey in to her. Also here you can see the water tube thingy. I also drop some water in occasionally.
Apparently it can take a few months for her to decide to relocate the colony to the sand, so we'll see how that goes. An alternative is to dump out the test tube, but that seems a little harsh.
The ant house is on a windowsill in this pic, but I moved it to sit on my old laptop (which is banjaxed, but still works, so I use it to drive a screen). It is warmer for her, I try to keep it about 25°C.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

I didn’t think the ending was particularly special. Although I did like how it showed Quell attempting to playfully “process” a woman in bed. As if the time he spent with The Cause, and what he learned about processing, was all just a big silly joke to him in the end, like everything else. Just another thing he steals and corrupts as he grifts his way through life. His nihilistic mindset and unpredictable behavior is so much in opposition with Dodd’s restraint and fanaticism, and yet they both get along so well in private because Dodd is ultimately a conman and a scoundrel himself.
The film manages to depict Quell as a rampaging drunken lunatic but also a sensitive and thoughtful man. Same with Dodd, albeit Dodd’s outbursts are more tempered as he has much more to lose. The differences between each man remind me a lot of the differences within myself over the years, and I think that’s why the film really hit home for me. If somebody couldn’t relate to the film on that level, I could see how they wouldn’t really think much of it.

In the UK we have a "right to buy scheme" that allows you to buy your home at a discounted rate after 3 years of renting, but only certain properties. Once I've done that, travel the world then come home.
The only thing stopping me is falling back into old habits/ associations.
school takes so long and unless a degree is a lot more useless in the UK than it is in NA (which I imagine it is, somewhat) then I think that's a bit of a waste of time too. I'm just in the home stretch of a degree so I'm trying to get it done, don't expect it to have any benefits besides a feeling of accomplishment for setting out to do what I knew would be difficult.
Mortgage advising seems like the type of thing that will always have a use for, especially in the climate of uncertainty. Just stay focused and you can do it man. Lifestyle is the biggest thing for me hence why I don't drink anymore and hang out with a girl with a kid in my free time. I really just need to stay outta prison, I know if I can do that I'm going to have a great life. Hopefully we both get there but it's not a race.
