I was about to do a psychological evaluation of EasyDoesIt and explain why his judgement of the situation might be flawed. I would've needed some feedback from him to do this and now I'm not angry anymore so my motivation isn't there at all.

I also figured out that it's probably irrelevant because it applies to other people as well. Maybe there is a userbase… Yea…

The title would've been "Lost in Space".

Sorry for being a bitch in this thread.

All is forgiven. I can be kind of a ick sometimes actually.

@Pheonix I can tell you a lot about hypnotism.

So here's my perspective on what would have to happen to run a successful forum like the one we're talking about.

First and foremost, You guys need to stop looking to ressurect totse and seeing totse in every idea. Part of growing up is letting go of some things you may have loved, but for god's sakes it's getting embarrassing. Accept it for what it is.

You'd need one guy running the place and people who will respect his rules. He has to have enough time to dedicate to the site.

You'd need a few mods that are at least on the same page as the one guy running the place.

You'll need a niche market that hasn't been totally capitalized upon and is relatively unexplored forum-wise.

You'll need a way to close registration for a period.

You'll need to do an advertising campaign.

    And that, there's aways luck.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's how I would do it and what I was thinking about earlier in the thread.

I would build a forum dedicated to the discussion of Academic topics. The mission statement of the forum would be:

"Nerdsinspace exists to foster a community of genuine academic discussion where integrity, good scholarship, and academic liberty are emphasized. "

To clarify on what I mean by this since there appears to be confusion on the term "academic" (as in thinking RDFRN or Totse were academic forums), the forum would have some pretty strict guidelines. Scholarly sources and citations would be emphasized. Posts have to deal with a topic directly relating to a field of study. Posts that are irrelevant would be deleted or locked. Here are examples of acceptable topics are:

Can someone help me with this math equation?

Is Paedophilia a modern day witch-hunt? What does the science say?

Was Freud actually right about anything?

Can someone help me with this script I'm writing to connect to Xfinity Wifi and spoof my MAC address?

Does Charles Murray's research actually count as "racist science" or are there biological differences between races?

    Paranormal Psychology Thread.

What's the most interesting class you've ever taken?

    Marx and Wittgenstein.

Is there room for god in science?

In each example, there is an actual field of study highlighted in each topic. Here's what's not acceptable:

    Obama is fucking gay.

Another reason I hate niggers, kikes, muslims and faggots.

    Fuck you.

What should I do with my piss balloons?

I want to steal some dude's shit / eat drywall nails / Night Ops

    The jedis control everything.

I ate an awesome cheese burger today.

I broke up with my girlfriend.

Check out this sexy girl / guy / child / elephant

    The Porn Thread

I wish I had the balls to hire a hooker.

Why did oplus delete my thread? He's just a power hungry mod who needs control. He has to push buttons. It's not over until I say it over. The forum is doomed because it's just like totse.

In each unacceptable example, the topics don't really have anything to do directly with an academic discipline. Even if they're loosely related, they aren't written in a way that contributes to fostering genuine academic discussion.

You'll note that freedom is a not a core principle. The reason is because this has nothing to do with totse.

Okay that sounds kinda nerdy but feasible. My question is how are you going to attract a userbase of people who want to do this and follow the rules? How will you keep shit posting down?

I have an idea. I'm not guaranteeing it'll work, but it operates on a lot of principles that I know to be true.

Long story short, the answer is the Wargames Sub.

After we put up the site and advertise it in a few locations (4chan, reddit, whatever), A select few of you guys would be invited to a War Games sub. We leave registration open for a little bit, wait until we get a core group of a few people (we don't need a lot, a few are fine). We start by designing how we want our first war game to be. The first one It could be really basic, like connecting to a computer on my network and doxing "me" (fake information). The goal is to get a small group of people working together so everyone can supplement everyone else's knowledge and we can all work together on the stuff we don't know in order to build a better learning experience. When it gets a little bigger, we could have teams and target servers on either team.

Whenever we create a campaign, we close registration. Then we spend a 1 - 3 months executing the campaign. You can still view the page but you can't register. People will see it, be interested, want to learn, and will join whenever registration is open.

The other thing is that we'll probably only have one or two subs. The forum is so small that it'll look really inactive if we have a million different subs.

I'm building a computer lab in my house as we speak, and I would be willing to get a unique connection and unique IP address specifically for these exercises. I'm going to school full time and am working a lot less so I'll have time to dedicate to this bullshit. Furthermore I'm going to school in a tech field so it's related to my education and I can ergo justify it.

That's my idea. I don't know what you guys think but I'm pretty confident it would work. I don't think it would attract a ton of people right away but you wouldn't want that to start. You'd want basically a select few guys who are knowledgable enough to execute this but not so advanced they blow everyone else away. It's very doable and, if the right people were in charge, you could wind up making something very successful.

How would you keep out the shitposting? I'd only trust this if Lanny backed it.

So you don't trust oplus? :p

Anyway, do we even have the user base to support something like this? I'm honestly a proponent of only having one or two subsections because they make the forum look more alive. This one only has about ten people who actively post here and when everything is spread out it makes the site look dead.

This is not Spectral's intention in his post.

I completely get that spectral has crazy reasons, but his conclusion is still correct.

Namely, it's over. Let's move on. It's cool to have niggasinspace and do what we do, but having a billion sister sites altogether floating around originating from the same community with ostensibly the same goal makes the original totse look like a bunch of whiney bitches who never grew up.

Knoweldge and freedom are cool, but just go on like one of the chans or something.
  7. EasyDoesIt Tuskegee Airman
You already sound like a pissy bitch and it hasn't even started, though. PTSD is waiting for you.

Not really. You breaking down into a hissy fit and threatening me with your big internet muscles or whatever because you're not invited to my new forum you wouldn't fit into anyway is actually probably the pissiest-bitchiest thing on this website right now.

Thank for the laugh though, m80.

I feel bad for my nig Bill Krozbyler.
  9. EasyDoesIt Tuskegee Airman
I'm actually pretty well socially adjusted. Probably the weirdest thing about me is that I have nuanced opinions about sexuality (IE I don't think pedophiles should be killed or whatever), browse weird sites online like niggasinspace or 4chan, and that learning is really one of the few things I do for fun.

Other than that I'm a pretty average dude. Girls, friends, job, cats, etc.
  10. EasyDoesIt Tuskegee Airman
Thank you sir i try me hardest.

I'm going to probably set up my new network here pretty soon. After classes I'm going to see what I can do with it.

Maybe I'll make a thread on it.

In all instances, certain deluded individuals with big egos started to think they were too big for their britches, and they started to imagine they could regulate, herd, censor and micromanage free speech. They started to imagine that, just because they owned a domain name and a few megs of hard drive space, that they owned the community and all of its content, and they imagined they could do whatever they wanted with it. But you see, it was all just in their imaginations. A call was made to contributors to wake up, but the call was ignored, ridiculed, oppressed, deleted, moved, what-have-you, and apathy ruled the day. And so the only option left was to put the bedtime story to bed - to demonstrate for the ego-driven dreamers just how powerful free speech and unmolested freedom of expression really is. No britches are too big for freedom of speech, and that's something the dreamers had to learn the hard way, and they did. Should we feel bad? Not at all. Did we lose good content? Sure. Did we lose good contributors? Sure. Did we lose power-hungry, ego-driven, censuring, content-abusing clowns and their enablers? Yes, we did. Did it have to happen? Yes, it did.

I agree. It's time we put it rest. If we want to get together and start something else that's fine, but trying to recreate totse isn't going to happen.

"When the show is over I'll wait for you and fuck you up in the parking lot, nigger"

All jokes aside, your site sounds like RDFRN without totse. I see no reason for it to exist. I sadly have to deal with academics on a daily basis and I'm glad I don't have to waste my time with them when I get home. Good luck with overcoming failure once again.

I'm really getting tired of explaining this.

You have no idea what you're talking about, and the fact that you keep comparing Totse clones to an academic forums along with assuming that I was trying to create another totse clone (after I explicitly said I wasn't like three fucking times) shows you don't have the reading skills to even be invited into anything I created anyway. Everytime a community comes together dedicated to learning something, doesn't mean they're trying to copy totse. You really need to get over this silly notion about a webforum that died over ten years ago man. Totse was original in several respects, but it's not like the first time people got together to study fringe knowledge was in the 1980s.

I'm also not sure why you assume yourself an authority on these topics or feel like forums live or die based on your recommendation, because you're not even a particularly valuable poster here. Comparing RDFRN or totse to an acadmic forum clearly shows you know absolutely nothing about this topic. I haven't seen a single scholarly article on this or any totse clone website in my entire life.

The point is that there shouldn't be scholarly articles on here. That's not the purpose of the site and it's never really been what the userbase wanted. Don't get me wrong, that's not to say people here aren't intelligent or very knowledgable, but they don't come here to get their knowledge fix. And that's fine. I appreciate niggasinspace becuase it's a silly place where I can get interesting perspectives and have the freedom to write pretty much whatever I want.

I like you and I'm not trying to piss you off, but you're literally ignoring everything I said and it's aggrivating.

  14. EasyDoesIt Tuskegee Airman
OP, what makes your place different than this place? Except that it's completely devoid of any content at this moment.

True, but I remember totse as a place where outright spam was deleted and the spammers banned. It helped keep the signal to noise ratio a bit sane.

I've been bouncing around ideas for a community recently because part of me thinks that &t was the best it could've have been, but another part thinks that &t is passed and an &t clone won't work in these times anymore. Late 90's/early 00's was a time for internet forums, but is it time they were replaced by some newer way of creating and sustaining a community? The &t I know itself replaced a BBS with a forum, so maybe there's something new to try? I'm really attached to this form of being part of a community, but what if there's something better?

Honestly guys you just have to admit it's over. It's getting embarrassing at this point. That forum was dead before Jeff Hunter even pulled the plug in 2009. The reason was because it didn't have any potential even by 2006. By 2007 most if not all of the content producing members left. Even Radio Free Amerika and Technofiliacs was falling apart by that point.

The userbase simply doesn't exist anymore, nor do the technological hurdles that would vet a culture of readers. Nowadays everybody and their grandmother is online, so until there's new technology we're basically fucked.

Everybody here acts like they want old totse, but I don't they realize many of the members here and on other totse clone wouldn't be welcomed in the new forum they're begging for. Obviously you (LiquidIce) would, since you're one of the better content producing peole here, but everytime something begins to look like it has potential to fill the void the userbase destroys it. They complained IntoSanctuary was too regulated, they complain NiggasinSpace isn't regulated enough, they claim intosanctuary didn't have enough content, then as soon as we started to produce some they doxed the owner. Remeber Zoklet? We were just about to put in a Zoklet Library, I was collecting text, tons of people were contributing, ParkerBrother was building an interface, and then someone doxed Zok. We can say what we want about RDFRN, but the admin was dedicated to recreating something in the spirit of Totse, it was picking up traction, people were beginning to produce a lot of content, and someone fucking doxed the owner because .... no reason I guess. The guy who did it said he better close the site or he was going to release information about his wife and kids everywhere.

The admin closed the site, and the userbase fucking cried and complained that he was some kind of "pussy" for refusing to jeopardize his wife and kid's well being. Granted being doxed isn't the end of the world for some people (like lanny), but you seem to forget that Zok lost his job over that shit (all it took was one phone call). If it was my wife and my kids I would have done the exact same thing that the owner of RDFRN did.

I don't even like calling it "doxing" because that's kind of a pretentious name for basically being a fucking creep and googling people's information based on the little you know about them with a little technical know-how here and there. It doesn't really take much to do. I'm not going to say I'm impregnable, but none of you guys really know anything about me besides my voice and what I (kind of) look like (which I'm assuming was recorded or photographed), but even that isn't enough to go on because I move so frequently.

Anyway, I guess my point is that you would need to have a firm guiding hand of moderation in the beginning because Sploo's constant posts about his IQ and his "experiments," Iron John flooding every forum with jedi conspiracy (including oral indulgences), people spamming child porn and child erotica, posting up garbage, illegible posts, and all the other stuff people here claim they don't want but cry when it's moderated is the reason it never grows.

Honestly of all the Totse clones this one is the least moderated, and I think that's why it will continue to be successful. I'm thankful lanny made it because it's entertaining.

I know this is long as fuck but If you ask me..

There is one thing you could do to recreate something a little like what you're looking for that would most likely be successful. I'm thinking about doing it and opening it for discussion later. I have to go to class and get fucked by Calculus for a few hours.

Like most brainwashed gun control idiots you missed the point. Humans are going good to use weapons. It is a trait that has propelled us to the top of the food chain. It instinct… It is part of what we are just as sure as a claws are part of what a tiger is. If you tell the masses they can't use their "claws" and let the government's use their's then the masses will be enslaved. It has happened time and time again is societies throughout history. Learn to learn.

The NRA is the second most powerful lobbying group in America.

This is the same group that buys a republican dominated congressmen to make sure gun laws don't get passed.

This is the same congress that blocks independent research establishments from getting accurate data on gun crume.

This is the same congress that makes sure updated mental health screenings and backgrounds checks can't be done properly.

So you agree with the agenda of what's basically a big powerful corporation and want them to continue to propogate a corrupt government and hide real research from you on gun crimes, but I'm the brainwashed one in this conversation?

Sorry, but I'm not some high school kid who heard his first Green Day album, your standard party-line answers aren't going work. Claiming "Ya just missed the point, guns don't kill people - people kill people" is a very pathetic attempt to sidestep my arguments by offering some catchy folk-wisdom sophistry bullshit. Sorry, but it's not as easy as you're trying to make it out to be, and it just illustrates you have a very over-simplified and reductionist view of this very complicated issue.

    learn to learn

Honestly man, this is why people don't take our country seriously. The rest of the world is literally laughing at us because inbred people like you are so convinced that your toys make you free. Just be honest and admit that you like guns and this really poorly thought out defense of your position is just you trying to justify that you don't want your toys taken away or you want to be part of something bigger than yourself.

Please address my following (original) points and stop the dickwaving or simply admit that you don't know shit:

"Other countries have less guns but they have other kinds of crime"
Is it not true that a even multiple people with knives and clubs are not nearly as dangerous as a teenager with a gun? Is it not also true that we have more murders per capita than most other developed countries yet we're the richest country in the world?

"If they take our guns away then that makes me less free."
Is it not true that they listen to all of our phone calls, read all our emails, we have stagnant wages, the wage gap between the wealthy and poor is huge, we lag behind in basic education, the president can arrest anyone indefinitely without trial, is home of the patriot act, the FBI is so above the law that they run child porn websites with no consequences to them, and the president kills US citizens without trial? How does owning a gun have anything to do with these freedoms?

"If they take our guns away, the government will enslave us with superior weapons technology."
Doesn't the government have drones, tanks, and helicopters? Isn't it safe to say that people are already outgunned? I'm pretty sure I'm one of the only combat vets on this forum, are you really prepared to argue that a group of overweight civillians with almost no weapons training or organization are even going to "rise up" and defend themselves from a National Guard Unit?

    "Guns aren't the problem"
Then why do we have so much gun crime? You don't think it's because we have so many guns, no training for them, no safety courses for them, no updated mental health registries, or the fact that any idiot can get one in many cases without a background check?

"You don't know what you're talking about. The facts are..."
Why does the NRA block congress from turning out honest research on this information if the facts just speak for themselves.

If you would have even read my post you would see that I didn't really propose any "gun control" at all, I simply said we should enforce the laws we already have on the books (which never happen).

Honestly man I know this is niggasinspace but you're really just embarrassing yourself. I'm not saying you can't be pro-gun but you should have intelligent reasons if you're going to argue about it.

  17. EasyDoesIt Tuskegee Airman
Arnox 2.0… Your site is already doomed.

"Ignore the boos when they come from the cheapest seats."
  18. EasyDoesIt Tuskegee Airman
Why are you guys actlng like something is going to happen to niggasinspace?

So many people pissed and moaned that all the other forums were way too restrictive, and now you finally have one where the sysop leaves us alone, and you created a new one.
  19. EasyDoesIt Tuskegee Airman
I'm sorry, but this thread is an insult to Lanny.

I do agree. As long as Lanny keeps this forum running, there's no need for an alternate. It also looks to me like all of the other totse-clones have shut down.

    Sounds like totse.

    nope already made

    http://nirvananet.boards.net

For the last fucking time, I'm not talking about making another totse clone. Put your crackpipes down for five seconds and read what I actually wrote instead of seeing Totse everywhere you retards look.

I specifically said it was going to be a place for students to have an academic discussion. I'm not sure what school you dicks went to, but by that I didn't mean a place to talk about how much you like stuffing your brains with the latest thing some dropout made in a lab, how much you hate niggers, or how much you want to fuck little kids. Furthermore, thinking that &Totse was ever an exercise in anything even remotely academia is laughable. Granted it got a lot of us reading and gave many of us a desire to learn, but it seems to be forgotten that Totse's primary purpose was freedom - which has very little to do with academia for those of you who have been there. I mean, did you guys forget...

"Do you wipe your ass sitting down or standing up?"

"How many kintergardeners could you take on?"

"Could you kick your dad's ass?"

    "I am Bloody Diaperman!"

"Guys go fap fap, girls go chic chic - you know what i'm taklin' bout."

I'm not trying to say it was a bad place or that we can't have fun, but that's definitely not what I was talking about when I said I was thinking about opening an academic forum. It's not supposed to be your new hang out and honestly a lot of you wouldn't fit in anyway because you're fuck ups. Granted I've been part of this community for a while, but thinking that because I want to make a forum that I'm automatically jumping onto the "let's try to save Totse (again) " bandwagon is asnine. That has never has been the goal of my idea for a successful forum. Furthermore, since even before the fall of zoklet, I always have consistently said that Totse cannot be brought back to life and people are basically insulting it's legacy by having a billion fragmented sites sitting up. I appreciate niggasinspace and I'm not going to speak for Lanny, but I distinctly remember this forum being created out of his kindness on the condition that there will be minimal effort on his part because RDFRN died since because so many people here were freaking out about not knowing what they were going to do with their free time. What I will say that I know is that he has no delusions of ressurecting Totse. Maybe it's because he's one of the few of the people affiliated with it that actually has a life outside of it (which is more than I can say for a lot of people around here).

Not trying to be a dick or anything, but there's a reason most of the best content producing memebers left and moved on with their lives. Niggasinspace is fun, I think about you guys throughout the day sometimes, some of you have interesting stuff here, but this isn't what I was talking about.

Not to be a dick but nothing frustrates me more when I write a very clear and basic message, people ignore it, and then proceed to continue a conversation completely removed from the context of what I actually said. I'll get shit for this but honestly I think some of you guys need to hear it.
