Unless you're driven, determined and smart enough you don't deserve an exciting executive development role stocking the shelves in his bodega. -
2018-12-24 at 4:14 AM UTC in Who you think you'd get on with best irl out of hydro and §m£ÂgØL?Just realized what the hydro x §m£ÂgØL thing reminds me of - it's Matt Forney and Ann Sterzinger.
Matt Forney is this big fat short white guy who did §m£ÂgØL style shit, like decide to hit the road for no reason besides getting the experience of slumming it. Predictably, he's an aspiring writer. He regularly goes to the Philippines to fuck the girls there.
I remember hitchhiking once in NZ, or trying to, it lasted about 20 minutes, no one picked me up, so I walked back to town, feeling well fucked off. Hitchhiking is something that skinny little girls can do - so I was well out of the running.
Ann Sterzinger is an alcoholic writer who recently had typhus. She's quite brilliant, but burns through both jobs and men. She's Hydro if Hydro was an alkie instead of a poppy-brain.
It's a really good analogy when you read a little of what the two have written about each other. -

MOON PERSONs are a lost generation, a generation perdu.
Even the youngest MOON PERSONs are in their mid-20s by now, and showing no real sign of waking up.
Generation Z is where we should be looking. They are the generation who grew up online, knowing the internet, and being fully native to modern technological society. We need to spend our energy conceiving them, encouraging them and educating them.
Millenials are generation fucked - don't own homes, don't have families of their own, don't want to be a person at all. They are more interested in welcoming anti-social muslim men as "refugees" to replace them than in fighting for a decent life for themselves.
Generation Z is where our energy must go. -

Originally posted by Lanny I mean local as in time. E.g. the dominant mode of psychology before phrenology was superior, our scientific understanding of the mind and behavior became worse as time progressed. Same thing for behaviorism. I'm sure there are plenty of examples in other fields as well.
I never did "act all superior", hence the scare quotes around "less accurately". If you were a phrenologist you viewed your movement as progress, and while we now might have reasons to believe it wasn't, you would have had reasons to think otherwise in that time. The point here being there isn't some special property held exclusively by the what traditionally falls under the heading of "science" that makes it the only domain in human experience where objective facts exist.
Was phrenology not an advancement? I mean we now know - broadly speaking - which areas of the brain do what, and what a highly intelligent brain looks like. We might laugh at the old style cranial callipers, and even at the brains preserved in formaldehyde, but phrenology gave rise more or less directly to modern neuroscience.
OTOH behaviourism and lysenkoism were BS, but they weren't really scientific in any real sense, more a sort of theory that wasn't allowed to be tested or falsified. All theories have a certain sort of validity, but theories must be tested. -

Originally posted by Mewsik Really read my post and please, criticize MY outlook.
There's nothing wrong with your outlook.
Life is a series of challenges and upsets, and you've just got to get over them as best you can. Some people won't be able to, and that's OK. Just don't start with the whole "life sucks, I want out" or the "lets import xyz to replace us, they don't have the problems we do" bullshit that's so ubiquitous these days, and you're already ahead of the game.
I mean appreciate what you have. A lot of people like to pretend their life is perfect, and they're the sort of people who are on xanax and who are desperately unhappy they are in their big house and having various paranoid fantasies.
It's not given to us to be very happy for very long. Happiness is a candle that burns itself out quickly, and the happier you are the quicker it ends. -

Is this a troll?
Someone politely inquires about your ability to offer an employment opportunity, and you act like a drunken thot in a disco rejecting a short guy?
This is why the white race is fucked. -

Originally posted by Lanny "Models reality" does not imply monotonically more actuate models vs. time. Scientific inquiry has, from our present vantage, had periods of local regression where it came to model reality "less accurately" (again, relative to our current understanding of what "accurate" is). In this respect it's no different than morality.
Do you mean due to local politics/religion? For instance the whole anti-evolution thing? Or the controversy over the Copernican model of the universe?
But remember you live in a society where it's taboo to discuss or seriously investigate how either genetics or race relates to IQ, so it's not fair to act all superior. -
2018-12-24 at 2:41 AM UTC in Crowd screams as Indonesian rock band gets swept away by a tsunami...I've watched too much Metalocapsye, but it'd be wicked cool if it was a death metal concert, and the band kept playing the whole time as the audience was swept away.

The video isn't even worth looking at, it's just the view from inside as the tent the thing is in being swept away.
The band isn't actually awful. -
