Real talk though that kid is probably headfucked right now. 17 years old,never been in trouble before, sitting in jail, having just ended two men. I think he believed guns would be enough to deter violence. I dont think he knew in a million years hed have to kill two people to keep from being beaten to death. Not sure why there people cant make their points without assaulting people, killing people and burning cities. Protest all you want. Normal people are going to continue to sit on the sidelines while you loot and burn their cities.

I've been thinking about this and prosecuting him sets a very dangerous precedent - perhaps that's the intent.
In short - the state abdicated its responsibility to the people by allowing these riots to continue even after they regularly started to descend into arson, property damage and general mayhem and in many cases refused to even prosecute the offenders after the fact.
If the state is unable to protect its people, people must be able to protect themselves and their property.
If the state refuses to enforce the law and actively prosecutes people who attempt to do it in its place, it shows itself as hostile to the people and inherently unwilling to protect their interests. Even flagwavers who feel their country can do no wrong will begin to feel this way when it comes to their neighbourhood.

Maybe. Ideally you'll live, but getting your skull caved in by a BFI with a hockey stick isn't exactly safe and survival is not a guarantee. People have been killed by single punches, let alone all the people throughout history who have been clubbed to death with sticks. Given the choice between rolling those dice and killing the piece of shit trying to attack me, I'm taking the second option every time and there is nothing immoral about that.

Im pretty sure the issue is the overexposure of black victims-often in cases where they were committing crimes that lead to their demise- and the downplaying of stories of white victims. Leading to the belief that blacks are most often the victims of white people and whites are most often the perpetrators, untouched by black violence. This is why at pretty much every BLM march you see someone saying something to the effect of “YALL OUT HERE EVERYDAY KILLIN UNARMED BLACK MEN. EVERY DAY!!” when this is verifiably false. I think thats the whole point of highlighting this story. If itd been a black kid riding his bike, hed be 2020 Emmet Till on every shirt and banner. Hedbe mentioned at the DNC as an example of the violence of Donald Trumps Amerikkka. But since hes a white kid, and the guy that killed him is black, its just......“really unfortunate” i guess.
