It sounds like Jiggaboo has sent Tee Hee to the kitchen for more sammiches, pretzel and beer (and washing dishes) so the menfolk can be alone with their sports.

Damn uppity women! How dare they to have an opinion, anyway?

U.S. Opposition to Breast-Feeding Resolution Stuns World Health Officials

    By ANDREW JACOBS

A resolution to encourage breast-feeding was expected to be approved quickly and easily by the hundreds of government delegates who gathered this spring in Geneva for the United Nations-affiliated World Health Assembly.

Based on decades of research, the resolution says that mother’s milk is healthiest for children and countries should strive to limit the inaccurate or misleading marketing of breast milk substitutes.

Then the United States delegation, embracing the interests of infant formula manufacturers, upended the deliberations.

American officials sought to water down the resolution by removing language that called on governments to “protect, promote and support breast-feeding” and another passage that called on policymakers to restrict the promotion of food products that many experts say can have deleterious effects on young children.

When that failed, they turned to threats, according to diplomats and government officials who took part in the discussions. Ecuador, which had planned to introduce the measure, was the first to find itself in the cross hairs.

The Americans were blunt: If Ecuador refused to drop the resolution, Washington would unleash punishing trade measures and withdraw crucial military aid. The Ecuadorean government quickly acquiesced.

The showdown over the issue was recounted by more than a dozen participants from several countries, many of whom requested anonymity because they feared retaliation from the United States.

Health advocates scrambled to find another sponsor for the resolution, but at least a dozen countries, most of them poor nations in Africa and Latin America, backed off, citing fears of retaliation, according to officials from Uruguay, Mexico and the United States.

“We were astonished, appalled and also saddened,” said Patti Rundall, the policy director of the British advocacy group Baby Milk Action, who has attended meetings of the assembly, the decision-making body of the World Health Organization, since the late 1980s.

“What happened was tantamount to blackmail, with the U.S. holding the world hostage and trying to overturn nearly 40 years of consensus on best way to protect infant and young child health,” she said.

In the end, the Americans’ efforts were mostly unsuccessful. It was the Russians who ultimately stepped in to introduce the measure — and the Americans did not threaten them.

    Ladies-

First two Thai schoolboys rescued from flooded cave

CHIANG RAI, Thailand, July 8 (Reuters) - The first two schoolboys have emerged from a flooded Thai cave after divers launched a daring and dangerous mission to rescue the children and their soccer coach, who have been trapped underground for more than two weeks, a Thai official said.

"Two kids are out. They are currently at the field hospital near the cave," Tossathep Boonthong, chief of the health department in Chiang Rai in northern Thailand, told Reuters. "We are giving them a physical examination."

Thirteen foreign divers and five members of Thailand's elite navy SEAL unit are trying to bring the rest of the boys - some as young as 11 and weak swimmers – through narrow, submerged passageways that claimed the life of a former Thai navy diver on Friday.

Are there things or sayings that make you scratch your head? Things that make you wonder why they are called what they are called? These are a couple of common expressions that make no sense to me. They are simply redundant.

    1.) Hot Water Heater

It's a water heater! There is no need for the "hot". As a matter of fact, if the water was hot, you wouldn't need to heat it!

    2.) Tuna Fish

It's tuna. Tuna, as far as I know, is a fish and nothing else.

    Got any of your own?

    Including results for basingstoke.

Do you want results only for Baskingstoke?

Basingstoke is often nicknamed "Doughnut City" or "Roundabout City" because of the number of large roundabouts. Basingstoke is an old market town expanded in the mid 1960s as a result of an agreement between London County Council and Hampshire County Council.

We Americans probably won at least 80% of our battles with the Vietnamese.

    See how that worked out?

Occupying a foreign land usually results in a quagmire.

Now that we've established exactly what your mother is, I suppose it is now time to haggle over her price.

Boo, did she give you the friends and family discount?

Can I tell her you're my good buddy for a better price?
