In my opinion, the best course of action would have been for you to have talked to the asshole privately where he would not have felt humiliated and belittled in front of his underlings. My son got fired from a union job as a millwright where a guy pissed him off and he put him up against a wall. He's 6 feet tall and weighs close to 300 lbs. Unfortunately, he did it under a surveillance camera and the weasel reported him. He now works strictly out of the union hall and works all over, often out of town and on weekends. The upside is that, because he's union, he gets great benefits with overtime, out-of-town pay, etc. He made over $100,000 last year and he's not going to be at full pay until next month.

When I purchased my home my rate was over 15% with a variable rate that could have gone up. Fortunately, it came down every year while my credit score improved and was in the 3-4% range when I finally paid it off after almost 30 years.
