One of my favorite memory was when I was subbing regularly at a mentally challenged school. Me and the aide took the kids (who were 18-21) to a room where they were encouraged to dance. They started talking to each other in an odd language saying: "Bleeeeppie, bleepie!" and then they would laugh.
I was confused about this, so I asked the aide what they were saying. She informed me that they weren't allowed to say 'dirty' words, and they had to say "bleepie bleep" when they were talking dirty to each other. They started dancing crazily and yelling out "bleep!" that we all started laughing and dancing a bit. It was so fun that day, I never wanted to forget how sweet they were! -

I only showed videos if that's what the teacher I was subbing for gave instructions to do for the day
I taught ALL subjects in the 8 yrs I subbed. I wanted to get a feel for what I wanted to eventually settle down to, and I was partial to paraplegic students the most.
Yes, I did write pink slips to unruly students if necessary...lol
and NO, I never laid a hand on any student. Course not. -

I substituted for 8 years at 2 different districts until I found the place that I wanted to settle at and was right in the midst of completing certification courses when something happened in my life that changed everything...
and I didn't know at the time that my life would never be the same again. -
