Cohen admitted that he tried to get in contact with the Russian government to get help setting up business connections in the country prior to building that proposed hotel, as he'd failed miserably to cultivate any beforehand*.
The simple fact that he emailed the general press mailbox rather than any specific person within the government indicates that he didn't have any specific contacts - he received a generic administrative response telling him to consult with business organisations.
*The other fact that he thought it was appropriate to ask the Russian government to help him cultivate business connections shows how arrogant he is/was, and how obviously little he thought of the state of Russia. If he did have a mysterious 'back channel to the kremlin', there would be no need for him to be using public press mailboxes, and one would assume he'd have more respect for them than to bother them with something so trivial anyway.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -
