I didnât have enough money today to afford that on top of everything else, and I told him to come back in a week.
A few minutes ago, I hear a loud noise outside of my house. I opened the door and noticed that he was cutting my grass. I went running out to him and yelled for him to stop... he shook his head no. He told me that he saw my kids playing in the yard and was worried about snakes being in the grass and biting them because the grass was too tall.
I again told him to stop because I couldnât pay him. He said that he didnât need to be paid, he had grandchildren and that he hoped someone would look after them in the same way.
I was brought to tears. I hugged him. We talked about different struggles weâve had in life and he told me that this is what the news doesnât report. He told me the news doesnât report the black neighbor helping out the white neighbor because it isnât good for the network to make money. I told him that he has a good heart. I told him I wish more people on earth were like him.
We hugged again. He is still outside cutting my grass and itâs dark now. I am so grateful to have him as a new friend.
His name is Johnny and he lives in Taylors, South Carolina. He cut my grass for free tonight because he was worried about my children playing outside in the tall grass. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves

So Today This Little Boy Came Into The Store And Asked Me 'Where Do You Guys Have The Cheapest Shoes?' So I Showed Him Were They Are. So I Asked Him. If These Where For School. He Said Yea. I Looked At His Feet And Saw The Shoes That He Was Wearing Were Destroyed. Literally They Were Breaking Apart. I Asked Him If He Wore That For The First Day Of School And He Said Yes. He Told Me In A Low Voice A Story And That Sh*t Broke My Heart. I Told Him. Don't Worry. Pick Any Shoe You Like. He Said Why 'I'm Not Gonna Have The Money' I Told Him 'Don't Worry, I'll Buy Them For You.'He Was Like 'Really?!!' I Said Yea Of Course. He Got His Favorite Shoes. And I Told Him To Make Me A Promise. To Get Good Grades And Be Good In School. He Said He Promises. He Kept Telling Me This Is Unreal And Couldn't Believe It Was Happening. So My New Buddy Walked Of Of Finish Line With A Brand New Pair Of Shoes For The School Year.. Nothing Makes Me More Happy Than Seeing Someone With A Smile On There Face. âToday a lady and her mother and husband came in to our Home Depot telling us that the insurance company may or may not pay for their little boyâs walker, so they went on the internet and found plans to make one out of PVC pipe. My store manager heard about this and we went over to them looked at their plans and said, âWe got this.â So, we started putting it together told the family to go and enjoy ice cream and come back in an hour.
Other associates started jumping in and when the family came back it was done. Everyone was crying to see Logan walk around with the biggest smile on his face.
When the family tried to pay us, we said, âNo way this one is on us.â
Thanks to all that help and for being a blessing to this family and to this little guy.â
