I know. I don't want people thinking I didn't know this. >_>
That was just a quote from Idiocracy I thought was kind of funny. -
2015-10-25 at 11:20 PM UTC in Syme was literally the singular sympathetic character in 1984
IDK, animal farm seems even more condescending than 1984, going so far as to dress up a piss simple moral in the trappings of a child's parable (talking animals and shit). But "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" is kind of what I'm talking about, it's not an idea that's actually investigated in either book, it's just a floating assumption that we see Orwell fumble his way through paying out. Why does power corrupt? We're never given an answer, not even the usual platitude of "greed is endemic to the human condition". Like maybe animal farm carries the additional message that revolution/social change is futile but again, there is no meaningful question posed or answer given. I'm left at the end of all of Orwell's fiction asking "why?".
There have been numerous studies done on the effects of power and authority. The Stanford prison experiment is the most famous one, although severely flawed. There's also a large pool of literature on political incentive and the dynamics involved.
Of course, he didn't go into that. -

Hahah, typical right reactionism. You say literally the exact opposite of the truth in order to make your own extremist position appear moderate.
Do you honestly believe there hasn't been a massive overall leftward shift in government policy and culture? Unless you buy into this incredibly moronic nonsense of the 50s and 60s being the golden age of progressive policy with the rich taxed 90% (Shame on you if you bought into this, you should be intelligent enough to see the problems with this argument.).
Due to political polarization, even massive changes in geographical distribution: http://www.amazon.com/The-Big-Sort-Clustering-Like-Minded/dp/0547237723
in many areas genuinely moderate opinions, as opposed to moderates and independents in name only, who agree with leftists/Democrats on nearly every major issue and always vote for their candidates, are seen as right-wing or far-right.
http://heterodoxacademy.org/2015/09/14/bbs-paper-on-lack-of-political-diversity/
The social sciences have the strongest political biases of all, just look at a list of majors by the political ideology of the professors. Of course you generally don't care about bias as long as it's in line with your bias and have a vast array of massive cognitive biases, emotional responses and skewing, that makes you see what you want to see. Leftist viewpoints are just the standard to you and you often don't even see them as being leftist, they don't cause any negative emotional reaction, but once a right-wing viewpoint comes along it triggers a massive negative emotional response and you flip the fuck out. I'm not referring to you specifically, necessarily, just modern leftists in general, particularly MOON PERSONs, but don't want to edit this. Another problem is that you're so far left in some ways that you may genuinely see many aspects of the world leaning heavily to the right, when in reality it's simply because your reference point is so extreme.
Think of how many sectors of society, how many major metropolitan/economic regions, are dominated by the left. -

2015-10-25 at 10:57 PM UTC in The retarded thread: Fuck, §m£ÂgØL made one first editionFuck, 2-FMA is disappearing. Oh god, I was literally late by about one day, if I had been able to get it and pyrazolam from tic everything would have been great. The universe is conspiring to destroy me. (I don't really believe this.) Hopefully Indian labs will take up the slack and it will be just as good, although that the Chinese were dominant to begin with leads me to believe that overall the situation, quality, reliability, and price, will be inferior, the question is how much. Then again, there is adaption, problems create incentives to solve/improve them.
Unrelated, this library is gothic as fuck:

2015-10-25 at 9:08 AM UTC in The retarded thread: Fuck, §m£ÂgØL made one first editionDude, come on, you mix propylene glycol, which you can measure with a syringe, and etizolam. How can you not manage that? Although I can understand this behavior stemming from severe depression and have exhibited it myself many times in many ways.
Although, a microscoop can work well enough. I just used half of a blue one I had that came with something for daily dosing to deal with general pervasive anxiety, and a full scoop for sedation.
I want to pyrazolam powder because it's so selective for anxiolysis without the typical side effects, and lack the long-term dangers of most benzos. -

Basically I said that you have to balance altruism with national security, and that you can't just let all the "refugees" into Europe. They went apeshit.
I thought this bullshit only existed on the internet.

That's...quite a stockpile. Long enough that you may actually have to worry about degradation. Are you sure you didn't screw up your math?
I suppose you could always give away the excess as Christmas presents, which would be...pretty funny considering the predispositions of the userbase and what binges tend to lead to in their lives, particularly bulk powder binges. -

2015-10-25 at 1:41 AM UTC in 3 dead after driver plows into Oklahoma State homecoming paradeMore people should use vehicles for killing sprees. Imagine a large truck of an armored (modified) truck driven into a something like a parade or marathon at top speed, possibly with something welded to the front, like a horizontal metallic blade, to dismember people, not stopping until it was incapable of continuing to move. You could easily achieve one of the highest kill counts in history if done right, or at the very least beat the mediocre scores the average shooter gets by a good margin.

2015-10-24 at 8:55 PM UTC in banksy is a faggotThat's actually what I had in mind when I stated that. I mean, really, as if they're going to shoot him for painting on a wall and cause an international fiasco. If they wanted to stop him, why wouldn't they just arrest him?
No only that, but what was the environment like when this was occurring? Was he even in an area that was anywhere near armed guards or patrols? Was he surrounded by press, had he contacted them beforehand and let them know about his planned stunt? Even if they didn't, it's very likely that they would attempt to figure out what was occurring, who he was, before deciding on a course of action; this should be standard procedure. It wouldn't have taken long for someone to fill them in, tell them that he's Banksy, a well known Western (White) artist and that if he was hurt it would cause a huge uproar, making the PR for Israel even worse and drawing even more attention to the situation with Palestine and the West Bank. -

Oh, maybe it will be bad after all. Here's hoping for the worst case scenario. Seems it's going to make landfall at or near peak intensity, I just wish it was a hitting a more populated area. -
2015-10-23 at 9:16 PM UTC in The second most useless MexicanWoah, just learned that Mexico's about to be hit by Hurricane Patricia and allegedly it's going to be the strongest one in history, with wind strengths of a powerful tornado, and over a much larger area, of course. No, actually, it seems it may have been inaccurately portrayed and overblown/hyped by the media as usual and there may not be much destruction. Not sure which is true, hopefully it will be incredible.
Disasters have a nice way of bringing people together. I remember following the Japanese earthquake and tsunami live late at night and posting online. What a great day that was, like huddling close to a warm fire and sharing stories with friends. -
2015-10-23 at 9:02 PM UTC in What u feel?I probably experience one of the lowest levels of cumulative joy than nearly anyone you could find. Not only is the range of emotions I experience limited, but the strength of them as well. It's really incredible how many aspects of basic human experience I've never known. I remember thinking a long time ago that in my entire life I never had one moment of exuberance, those moments when you're truly full of joy. If it requires other people, I've likely never experienced except to a very mild extent you may experience vicariously or through text interaction.
Just today, a short time ago, I was feeling unwell and for a moment reflected on how far from normality I normally feel now, my basic state of conscious experience is, and how much I've fallen apart. I had never felt normal to begin with, but even going back two years ago before my mental breakdown would be a blessing, and even at that point it was terrible.
