He ended up getting himself not only removed from the staff, but permabanned by the site owner. And for what? Abuse of authority. Surprise, surprise! When you go to apply for a job, is it really credible to have a history of complete failure for that very job you are wanting to fill? "Yes, my previous employer fired me and then banned me from the property, and now I'd like to work for you." Doesn't seem like a very good strategy. This could actually be like a warped and twisted version of the traditional "Daddy Complex", where he's making YOU ALL pay for what happened to him.

My only problem with him is he is a total excuse for an admin and a shitty shambles of a moderator, and that is a fact, as fully evidenced by his actions and inactions over the past years. Nothing but a hypocritical, abusive, arbitrary, obstinate, holier-than-thou wannabe, IMO, as far as moderation goes. And he refuses to accept his own errors, so he will never, ever learn from his mistakes. Even Arnox probably beats his "style". He's like a bull in a China shop, totally oblivious to his own major failings. His own ego is all-encompassing, and it shows, big time. As the highest-ranking Totse member, as far as tenure, I can unequivocally go on record at this point to say that Lanny's "moderating" has been an utter failure. My advice would be that he resign as admin and let, say, aldra, take over the helm, because Lanny obviously cannot control his own ego, and all he's doing is emptying out the BBS one member at a time.

You ARE wrong. For example, he banned kr0z for posting "too many threads" in SG. Another example, he banned benny for "spamming", only problem there is benny doesn't spam. It was just Lanny and his chronic aversion to valid criticism. I could give several other solid examples. The problem isn't the users, the problem is Lanny. -

The only reason Infinityshock has been acting out excessively is because Lanny has been giving him unwanted attention, in that Lanny can't hold his own on a BBS without resorting to abuse of authority and hiding behind his admin control panel; that's attractive to Infinityshock, like a shark smelling blood in the water. Infinityshock can smell insecurity and fear from a mile away. So, you see, this isn't Infinityshock's fault, it's Lanny's fault. And, so he pays for the webspace. Big deal. That's what he voluntarily agreed to do. Nobody put a gun to his head. But just because he owns the webspace doesn't mean he gets to shit on good users and clean the place out systematically, like he's been doing.

But, on the other hand, he technically was spamming. I mean, his insults, while maybe occasionally entertaining (even to me from time to time), were virtually never all that relevant.
That's kind of a rational reason to ban someone, even in a culture that considers freedom of speech sacrosanct.
I mean, we kick the shoe sales spammers to the Mongolvoid, but for good reason I would say.
Even if infinityshock is occasionally entertaining, it's like a broken clock being right twice a day. Sure, it's bound to happen from time to time, but most of his posts are just plain disruptive and irrelevant.
I'm not saying that I necessarily approve of his banning, but I do get why Lanny would do it. It's not entirely unreasonable/unfair of him.
Ghost, my man, I will never for the life of me figure out why this is your hill to die on. Assuming infinityshock is not one of your alts, why are you so bent on defending his case? The principle might be a noble one (i.e. the defense of free speech), but what I've learned over the years is that some battles just aren't worth fighting. It's not like this has become some kind of slippery slope where Lanny has started banning people for literally no reason.
When it comes to that, I'll be right by your side. But for now, I understand Lanny's judgment.
Nonsense. Lanny has been completely arbitrary from day one. Lots of users have semi-post-flooded continually and have never been banned. First he says "not in the serious discussion forums", now it's "not in the Spurious forum either". He flips and flops so much it's comical. But it's really got nothing to do with that anyways. It's really all about Lanny, you see. It always has been. It's not about the best welfare of the BBS at all, it's all about Lanny's fragile ego. -

The unwritten rule is everyone else can spam garbage across the entire BBS freely, even Lanny himself, but not Infinityshock, because he's "scary". Infinityshock is the big, bad boogeyman. Do you understand now?
