pretty much, submarines are a huge problem in that regard though
generally - it's this kind of intentional underestimation that gets the US into never ending wars every time.
These artillery pieces are based on German WWII models but they have the longest range of any artillery currently fielded - if war were to break out they could destroy every military installation on the island in minutes, considering there are close to 20,000 of them hidden all over the place.
Cruise missiles will have trouble doing significant damage because anything worth protecting is in hardened underground bunkers that they can literally stay in for years.
Stealth aircraft are extremely over hyped - the latest and greatest are sporadically taken down by MANPADS and old soviet tech...
The US always expects their enemies to fight the way they're comfortable fighting and they almost never do. -

The YPG (a large chunk of the SDF) have abandoned all operations in the Al-Taqbah area due to Turk Rampage. Taking the city would've broken one of ISIS' major supply lines. -

2017-04-26 at 7:24 AM UTC in Conflict ShitpileAs an aside, I'm impressed at how effective certain third-parties have gotten at geolocating rebel attack positions from their propaganda training and TOW-firing videos. You've probably all heard about a group on 4Chan locating a training base and passing it on to RuAF for destruction, but there are at least a few groups consistently doing it and working in conjunction with the RuAF and IAF, and to a lesser extent the SAAF.
Geolocation wasn't done off that one still, but you get the picture. -
2017-04-26 at 7:17 AM UTC in Conflict ShitpileSYRIA - Even more (than the last 4 or so) Russian warplanes bound for the Al-Sharyat airbase the US dropped cruise missiles on. The SAA are pushing rapidly into Homs, this is an indication that it's close to the end for the Al Qaeda stronghold north at Hama.

2017-04-26 at 4:59 AM UTC in Is being a lawyer a "noble profession"?
Originally posted by Lanny You could say the same for literally anything that qualifies as a profession. I mean I agree that profit modeling all of human activity is demeaning but insofar as we can say anyone's occupation has value, it seems like justice, if indeed that's what lawyers dispense, qualifies.
I don't specifically mean being able to sell a skill; I'm talking in a more general sense - a justice system that has it's efficacy based on legal representation, which in turn is based on how much currency one can expend is not a justice system at all. It's a pyramid scheme with no external claim to legitimacy.
If the entire structure is immoral (or ignoble), then anyone who knowingly chooses to participate in it or benefit from it is ignoble by extension. -

2017-04-26 at 2:27 AM UTC in Conflict ShitpileKOREA - Many analysts are suggesting the US is waiting until the THAAD system is operational in South Korea before launching an attack on the North - I'd highly doubt it, considering there's no guarantee it'd even be effective against the type of missiles Best Korea have, and the major threat from them is the 20,000 or so camouflaged artillery pieces hidden in caves and valleys around the country. Given that the THAAD system's location is not a secret, I'd expect it to be levelled instantly in the case of open conflict.
THAAD was never (primarily) meant to be used against Best Korea anyway - the main point is to position their new X-Band radar system so that it can spy on China.
