Tom Hanks read it over the weekend and called his manager first thing Monday morning, saying he'd do the film.

once the military government is defeated they claim that it had no popular support and was entirely illegitimate, and reinstate the deposed government along with their policies. if the deposed government is dead at that time they use 'democracy' to instate a friendly government in its place.
that is if they're thinking further ahead than 'new government bad have bomb'
