Its a mentoring program. Basically kids who are elligable typically are in single parent households/have difficult home environment/parent in jail/high risk. People who volunteer typically take them out for an outting, or offer emotional support/guidance for the kid they are assigned to. Atleast that was what I had heard about it, I had a friend mention it years ago.

I don't but then, the insane person wouldn't consider him/herself insane now would he? The closest i've ever come to proper insanity was when i had my stint with MDPV. I took it for three months on end and of those three months maybe i slept a total of one or two weeks. The stimulant psychosis that resulted of that was quite profound. I was convinced there was an elaborate plot and all my family and friends were in on it, i sent them death threats ordering them to cut it out. I was convinced any nook and cranny and hole in the wall was a spy portal for the people living inside the walls.
I carried my 15 inch hunting knife everywhere i went, at some point, i decided i'd smoke the shadow people out of the walls and nearly set fire to the entire house. Everyone was scared of me and didn't know what was going on, lol, feels bad man. Eh who am i kidding, i don't actually feel bad for that but i probably should...
So, how sane are you...

Good point, but I wasn't thinking about some admin reading the PM's, because iirc the user was just asking to be pointed in the right direction, not asking for overtly illegal material; it is more about using email as a way to introduce malicious programs to another user under the guise of helping them.
Also, just for the record, I never even looked at people's IP's if I could help it, let alone attempt to root through their PM's. Not because I am a good guy or because I care about user's privacy or anything, it was just out of sheer laziness.
Email Protip: Don't open random attachements.
Also, even if you did look at IPs i never used my real one to access your site. -

Wasn't the question how an ancap society would deal with the problem? I think the answer was pretty clear: Moving.In the real world, free or not, up and moving as local prices fluctuate is not a feasible strategy for nearly any sort of business.
You can't make this claim because you don't know the specifics of the macro-economic situation in this case, neither do i but that's the problem with hypotheticals like this.In OPs example, how can you expect a farmer to sell their land, go find new land, and start farming when the only local supplier of something starts engaging in price gouging?
How can you expect that no one will look for alternatives when there's a cost incentive to do so, and how can you expect businesses aren't cognizant of this fact and will not engage in price gouging to prevent people from looking for alternatives and buying their product.
Even if the company falls on hard times and it has to increase prices by a minimum to survive, well, that's a risk of doing business.How is price gouging at whatever level is less expensive than the cost of people with enormous sunk costs moving town supposed to be the optimal solution here?
Stop forcing utilitarianism on me, for one you're assuming the water company is going to peg the price so high no one will want to live in that town anymore. Well if that's the case, poof goes the local economy and with it the water company. Don't you think in the interest of self-preservation the water company isn't going to increase prices by an unsustainable amount? Also, if god forbid the water company is stupid and they do it regardless, well, then obviously the cost of moving is less than the cost of staying in the water companies' town. Or people wouldn't do it right? -

Most of us don't even trust each other, let alone some new guy with a terrible identity who pops up selling guides without knowing anybody or making even a rudimentary attempt at socializing. Oh, and asking people to jabber or email him rather than just using the PM system here or some other neutral ground.
As you should know since you admin your own forum, administrators have the ability to see in PMs this is especially easy in MyBB, dunno' about vB or SMF but i imagine it can't be that hard. What's more, jabber/xmpp/pidgin, comes with an "Off The Record" function and allows for encrypted messages, don't know if pidgin goes over TCP but if it does and you reroute all TCP traffic through TOR it's going to be pretty secure. -

what's it about? you know, I just now realized that I pay for cable but I don't watch it….I haven't even turned on the TV at my house in like a year.
when I do watch tv its always over someone else's house.
the last thing I watched at my house was the fargo tv series, the one with billybob.
It's about a guy that works for a cyber security firm, he does some freelance hacking for good in his free time when all of a sudden he gets recruited to take down the evil corporation that his employer is a part of. It's way more fascinating than i make it sound though, because the character development is awesome, there's action, there's intrigue, there's drama. It's more than just a hacker show, it's a people show, about ideals, about how fucked up the world is and saving it but at what price?
The screenplay is great, the music is great, there's drugs, women, murder and the realism is superb because when they hack, they actually use the tools real hackers use and they don't talk bullshit. -
