2024-08-02 at 5:34 PM UTC in If you could erase one nation off the planet...What would it be?
I'd choose Sri Lanka, because:
1: Sri Lanka has defaulted on it's debt TWICE. Some broke ass niggas.
2: Knitted clothes/clothing accessories account for 25% of their exports, if you include all of their clothing/clothing related exports it account for nearly 45% of their exports. Knitting is for old white ladies who make you hot chocolate on cold Wisconsin days and sit in a rocking chair, not for gay Sri Lankans.
3: The island doesn't have any useful minerals or oil.
4: It's a floating rock that india should have invaded as soon as they gained their independence, they're basically the same people. -

Originally posted by ner vegas it's not so much about the composition of the fleet, it's more about the capability to protect exiting trade routes and deter competition - the threat is more important than the actual force for keeping the current system stable. it's why the US has such a huge problem with the Chinese Belt and Road programs; it offers an alternative for trade corridors that they cannot control. it's why they keep naval bases near almost all of the key shipping chokepoints you were talking about the other day.
So to put it shortly it is more about soft power than hard power, a lack of viable options to US protected trade routes, and the looming threat of making Uncle Sam mad if you oppose him? -
2024-07-25 at 2:51 AM UTC in Biden says he is leaving hiding and addressing the US at 8PM ET 7/24Here after the fact.
If you didn't listen to this here is the basic rundown of what happened:
1: Biden checked the boxes for any basic presidential speech, doing the, "Immigration, check, healthcare, check, jobs, check" etc. until he covered most wedge issues saying his administration was good in every way concerning said issues.
2: Biden endorsed Kamala Harris.
3: He closed with the basic: "America Number One!" patriotic closing remarks.
Status quo speech. -

Originally posted by Lanny Lanny How does this even happen. no helicopter with an eye in the sky. no security team on that rooftop keeping it secured. no K9 sniffing the grounds. the delayed tackle of Don compared to Reagan's tackle and pushed into a car
Sorry but they get an F for this. They know the tension level and this guy just walks over with a weapon in hand and even a tripod? and climbs onto the roof with that equipment without drawing attention to him. that's fucking Insane.
Probably because he is running in direct opposition to Biden, who is Dem and who's administration is also in direct opposition to Trump.
Having a helecopter in the sky at all times is impractical and costly. What is a K9 going to do at a rally, sniff out the AR15 ~450ft away?
The tension between both parties has been pretty bad since 2016. There have been multiple attempts/ plans to kill Trump since 2016, they just don't get as much press coverage as this one did.

That's a pretty big jump, and it has a whole hell of a lot more to do with culture. Saudi Arabia is a very rich and technologically advanced nation, but they still lag far behind "western nations" in women's rights.
Furthermore, as for your specific example, you used an example of a metric that is created by an attempt to quantify a qualitative aspect of society, most people have different definitions of what are women's rights and to what degrees such rights should be held, etc. -
2024-06-07 at 4:44 AM UTC in Does Anyone Else Watch Attack on Titan? There where quite a bit of parallel's to Early 20th century Europe in this series. Discrimination via race, mandatory conscription, nationalism, technology, worldwide conflicts. Heck, even the fair scene was reminiscent of an early 20th century fair, Ice Cream and candy being served en masse.
If Eren hadn't started the rumbling, Eldia would have been crushed by the rest of the world. If Eren did a half-assed rumbling, the remaining people of the world would band together and squash Eldia. -

2023-10-21 at 7:26 AM UTC in Substance appreciation threadHey guys, I would like you to take a moment to appreciate a substance that has really helped you out.
One for me is weed. Many nights I suffer from Restless Legs Syndrome, so It takes many hours to fall asleep. Thanks to wee, these problems are mediated with 1 or 2 vape hits.
Another one for me is Crouton. Besides being the only drug that really is good for relaxing after a long day of work, I also used Crouton in order to wean off of alcohol when I was an alcoholic a few years ago. It not only stopped withdrawal symptoms, but after I had been weaned off I no longer had cravings for alcohol, and the tiny cravings I had for Crouton where quickly dispelled.
The final substance on today's list for me is good ol' bundy.
Folks this substance produces a shitty hangover, but if you use robotabs, your marginal return on Inveatment is pretty good, as the hangover is shorter than with Hbr. On my 750 mg trip I had a hangover for 56 hours, and I've had the afterglow for 5 days now. On top of that, there is something awfully special about turning into a ball of consciousness and feeling your torso from your neck down to your thighs rotate on a swivel. -
