those animals were killed for their meat, the leather are just the waste materials that are being produced irregardless of people wearing them or not.
They're entirely different, and are treated differently by my position. We aren't producing new fossil fuels, and there isn't an ongoing demand for animals in the oil industry.
As for leather, some vegetarians/vegans are okay with secondhand leather shoes they've bought at thrift shops. I consider this a violation of our principles, however, and I refuse to buy them myself.do you know that ALL druggs are tested on animals ??? do you take druggs ??? do you not know that these animals suffer when their being used for the purposes of drug testing ???
What you aren't understanding is that my vegetarianism isn't so that I can be 'pure' and free of all animal products. That will never happen, not in my lifetime at least. Some vegans/vegetarians get caught up in being a paragon of ascetic self-denial, but I don't think that's in the interest of the animals.
I do take a couple of medications that I expect were tested on animals at some point, but I can't afford not to. That's not exactly the same as willfully eating meat on a daily basis, which is neither necessary nor morally permissible, but I also recognize that it's something to be avoided and I hope to be off of them soon.
The world isn't perfect, though, and neither am I, but I reduce my impact wherever possible and I do a much better job of it when compared to most vegetarians without refusing medications that I need. I hope that I'll see animal-free drug testing in my lifetime, because I've signed every petition I can get my hands on. -
