2024-02-09 at 4:32 AM UTC in learning gayass linux( my false outrageous)
Originally posted by A College Professor I'm doering mint linux. It worked goodly with all OEM hardware. I did apt-get update and apt-get upgrade, got all my stuff in order so I was feeling like a pretty big badass, heard.
Then I put in an Intel ARC GPU , no video output from it ( maybe because the motherboard manufacturer hasn't released a BIOS update with support for Resizable Bar, they say it's super-duper-important to have this for Intel ARC cards but I digressed. ( That's a whole other retarded rabbithole I want to try later, patching the option into the BIOS, as support for ReBar has been added to other manufacturer's MOBOs with same chipset ). So after fiddle-farting around for a bit trying to see if the computer could tell I put a GPU in it.. the integrated graphics started dropping the signal for ~1sec every 30-60 seconds. I said FUCK THAT, turned it off and installed an Nvidia RTX 4060. Power it back on and I believe this is from GRUB, it says the usual notification that SGX is disabled, but then another line about 'unrecognized chipset' it's barely on screen long enough to read it, stays powered-up but i have no further video output. Try re-powering it and get teh same thing. Remove the GPU and now I just get the grub thing about no SGX like normal, and then lose video output..
Are you not supposed to physically install new hardware with linux without making like a forum thread about how to do it first? I'm just confused why it broke the computer and it cAN'T be used now cause it seems like it nuked the integrated graphics video-output. Anyway this is my false-outrageous. I kinda want to learn how to fix it , but also I know it will be much faster to just wipe it and do a fresh-install ( it installed linux mints hella fast ) , or probably even better to just put Win10 on it and quit punishing myself heard.
I can spam escape after re-powering it and get to some GRUB command line thing but dont really know what to do with it.
I got to the point where you said you did apt-get... and i stopped reading.. apt-get is depreciated. just use apt.
cba to read the rest. sorry -

A library like htmx, clever as it is, just won't cut it.

htmx fundamentally fixes a lot of security issues that javascript overlooks. Yes ofc Angular and Typescript, etc all that right now is job safety, but it will eventually change, and if someone has no programming knowledge at this moment, I'd recommend learning the new technology so you are already in front. Pros and cons to both sides, really all comes down to the person and their interests, and end goals.
Personally I find webdev very mundane, and boring, but also I am more into kernel level stuff so.. I could be a bit bias.
But honestly.. devsecops is where it's at. -
