Who's watched it? What'dya think?
Just finished it (well season one) and am kinda on the fence. On the up side the production value was good and the consciousness/robots thing seems really cool when you're high and like "woah man". On the down side, for being lengthy and plot packed it really didn't manage to go too far. Some of the twists fell flat which would have been forgivable, others were pretty good (I liked the non-simultaneous storylines one, you could definitely notice a causal barrier between certain characters at times, you might have been able to see it coming if you were really on the ball) but there were just too many in total. I felt like every episode ended on a cliffhanger and after like Ford waffled on being the villain for the dozenth time I kinda stopped caring what shocking topic was going to be at the heart of consciousness this week. Ironically I had flashbacks to watching Lost more than once. In some ways I felt like the huge budget hurt coherency more than everything, a lot of scenes felt like cinematography-wank and could have just been cut (start to end I'm not sure hooker-bot actually did anything relevant to the primary plot)

You know all negative feelings are simply manifestations of fear.
In other words I scare you.

I find it to be a nice effect, sexual desires are so crude and the pleasures fleeting, it traps you in a horrible cycle that cucks like Lanny attempt to rationalize.
What sounds more like rationalization: accepting you have inevitable biological needs and desires and acting to satiate them or saying that through pure rationality running on a shitty ape brain you've come to the conclusion the things that have defined your ancestors for longer than they've been human just isn't for you?
Like, why are you still with church girl? Isn't it an embarrassment on some level? Don't you feel any sense of self-disgust?
Because I like her, and sex feels good, and human companionship is nice? Is the courtship ritual absurd? Totally. Is the biological compulsion to participate in it frustrating at times? Yeah. But eating and sleeping and brushing my teeth are all annoying indignities too but they're all necessary to sustain higher order functions.

Heyyyyy, are you so socially inept that all your friends/acquaintances are in the CS field, or do you have anyone who would be interested in a case study in genuine anthropophobia?
No one who's in the social sciences. But you blew off your last psychiatrist right? You should go back, give treatment a real chance instead of thinking you always know better than everyone else.

Anyway, Lanny, since it was so easy to convince you to try meth you should also try cocaine:
I've done cocaine. I liked it but it was a little too rush-y for my taste.

First, a tree is never fully grown unless you count it's end of life. Secondly, to answer Saturday assumes that by half grown, you are referring to having achieved half the size of the size designated as full grown. This is not a reasonable assumption. Trees, as all organisms, have a growth plate over time.
What would ordinarily be considered the wrong answer, Thursday, is the right answer with regards to its growth plate over time, assuming the tree is planted as a sprout. If not, the answer is "never" because the tree does not exist when planted as a seed. 2x0 is 0.
that's a really dumb gotcha answer bro
I guess it's non-obvious, but like in the same way as saying "I never actually planted a tree sucker! You sure look dumb now!"

It would probably be a pretty challenging first project. Not impossible, but if you haven't written a line of python before the setup and finding your way around might be tricky. If you want to give it a whirl though, I'm happy to help or answer questions.

Man, so many old posters showing up, this is wierd but nice.
I was a mod on zoklet, never on totse. Makes sense, I remember reading your posts on totse when I was just lurking while registrations were closed in early 2008.

Is Time An Illusion?
Basically they synced two atomic clocks, put one in a KC 130, one o the earth, took off with the KC 130, flew nonstop around the earth, and landed back where they took off from and where the stationary automobile clock was located. Observing physical effects of time seem like a pretty good argument for it having at least some ontological status beyond mere illusion. The idea that we have an imperfect perception of it seems trivial in the same way as saying "you can see things which are actually illusions". Doesn't make sight or light an illusion, it makes human perception imperfect.
Does that mean time as we understand it is just a construct to explain something beyond our ability to comprehend?
Who is "we" and how do they understand time?

This is decent, though there are a few errors and omissions. Sophie has told the story well a few times.
Anything you'd like corrected or added? I joined totse in 2008 so anything before that is just rumors to me and I don't know much about the sites that ran parallel with zoklet/sanc/rdfrn so if you have better dates or facts I'm open to suggestions.

Hey listen. this isn't off topic but you realize the background is copyright/trademarked?
that was a custom made seamless tile wallpaper. So if Lanny is able to use it, I want to use it on my website.. even though it's not totse related per sey .. I came up with a different acronym when it popped in my head. like a lightbulb going off for artistic expressionisms.
I think I'll be placing it on my webpage which is totse3.com since no one else wanted it.. the magical acronym just popped in my head and well.. I am a former member of totse (not related to my website) but I think the background is pretty too. so yeah. maybe I'll use it. or maybe I'll modify it. You don't mind do you Lanny?
It should still be under copyright although I have exactly zero idea who holds it. My guess is it was grabbed off whatever did what deviantart does at the point Jeff started the web forum. It's fine by me if you use it, but that doesn't carry any legal weight. Personally I'm not too concerned about legal action, it's pretty much blood from a turnip since there is no revenue stream and I'm not sure what damages you could claim that totse and zoklet haven't already done.

No.
I warned him like three times to get back on topic, he deliberately ignored me. I don't like banning people, it creates work I don't want to do, but if he can't follow literally the simplest and most laxly enforced ruleset on the internet than he's not going to post here.

Cool, so I do want to implement password retrieval but I'm drunk and don't want to do it right this instant (will probably take a couple of days to implement). If you PM me what the email address on your old account is and a temp password (and the email is correct of course) I'll manually set your password to that. It's a janky system but real-world-functioning SMTP is a dark and frightful thing so this is the stop gap solution.
