it isn't like you can cross into TJ from the calexico border and walk into a Pharmacy store and purchase pain killers.
You have to see a doctor. they have script doctors for just about anyone. but if you legitamently have a problem with your back and need them that bad, you can cross over, see a regular doctor even, get the Rx and come back with no problem. it's legal (questionably legal with script doctors, but they're doctors so Mexico doesn't seem to harass them like the US has and shut them down). unless it's changed over the past year or so.
I'v heard many people say that's how they go get their pain killers because of the strict laws enforced on legitimist pain killer users here in California. People in LA just drive down. People in NorCal might fly to San Diego and then rent a car, park it and walk across the border.
I'm sure its the same in Texas, fly to Brownsville or El Paso because there are nearly as many users who fake pain for recreational use (or to even sell them for profit) it should be next to impossible for legit users to get theirs. This state is getting more and more difficult to live here.
I think Arizona and maybe Nevada have script doctors who just hear you have a pain without having you bend over and do multiple visual test to see if you're faking or not. but in California, Doctors would never take a chance. at some point they'll lose their license to practice for months on the first offense.
