Originally posted by Quick Mix Ready Im told its a term California law makers came up with. Assault Rifle.
Its a high power rifle that can be converted to full auto from semi auto and large capacity magazine clips (I think anything above 9 rounds)
Both round limitation and semi auto rights seems to be given back to the citizens of california.
assault rifle noun
Definition of assault rifle
: any of various intermediate-range, magazine-fed military rifles (such as the AK-47) that can be set for automatic or semiautomatic fire
also : a rifle that resembles a military assault rifle but is designed to allow only semiautomatic fire
The term assault rifle is generally attributed to Adolf Hitler, who used the German word Sturmgewehr (which translates to "assault rifle") as the new name for the MP 43 (Maschinenpistole), subsequently known as the Sturmgewehr 44. -

the actual definition is full-auto or select with a non-full power rifle round (vs the old battle rifles) - more small holes vs one big hole doctrine and moving away from trench warfare for increased mobility
submachine guns fire pistol rounds -

My handgun holds 15 in the standard clip...
I bet a semi automatic handgun with 15 shots is more deadly than an automatic assault rifle with 9. -

Unless youre spraying into a crowd. Because with a semi, first shot and people are scattering while spraying gives little time to react. -

depends on the situation
rifles outclass handguns in terms of range, but short-range lethality is pretty similar depending on the bullet
the real-world benefit of full auto fire is suppression and fire team tactics; even if you wanted to do a shooty you'd probably be better off firing semi-auto unless your targets were trapped in a tunnel or something -

Automatic...and 9 bullets...it's going to be out of ammo on the first person...semi auto you get to choose your victim one at at time. -

That "spray" of 9 bullets would be over in a 1/4 of a second lol...you'd hit one person if you were lucky. A semi can still fire multiple shots within a couple of seconds...people don't move that fast. -
