Good languages to become an asset?

If you want to truly be an asset, consider developing a variety of IT related skills beyond just programming. Learn a relatively easy but versatile language like python while also spending time on networking, system administration and hardware. Too many developers I know are not well versed or experienced at all in the latter subjects and it really holds them back from becoming more than mediocre code monkeys.

Yeah, i'd say this is good advice in general. IT is a broad field. Having knowledge in a variety of related subjects increases your 'employability'. IDK if that's a word, but it is now.
