    In some country, showing somebody the bottom of your shoe is profoundly offensive

    Apparently it means "you are fit to be under my shoe" or something

    Edit:apparently it's the entire Arab world that finds that offensive

    Indian as well, I think. The bottom of your foot is regarded as the dirtiest part of your body, so it's like mooning a puritan.

    there's also some weird association with the US invasions, going back to desert storm they considered the paratroopers coming down on you feet-first to be especially insulting
