Thursday's resolution didn't specify what the mobile charging standard should be, but non-Apple mobile devices and increasingly laptops and tablets are charged by USB-C, so the EU is highly unlikely to choose Apple's Lightning connector.

This is great news. I am very impressed with how solid and reliable the connection with USB-C is, especially compared to the old micro-USB plugs, which were pretty shite and flimsy, especially the cheaper ones.

If this was in America one party would go with one standard, the other would go with the other, and nothing would ever get done.

IDK, I mean failure to get compatible implementations of the spec is pretty shitty, but the EU stepping in and defining tech standards seem like a dangerous road to start down.
