Turn off the water to the heater and call a plumber.

I suck at this sort of thing, but you are going to have to find the main water valve to your house and shut it off. If you have a basement, it might be up in the rafters down there, follow the pipes with your eyes until you see a spigot. and turn it off. then find where the leak is, exactly, by following the pipes visually through the house until you see where its leaking. If its a place where the pipes meet, there might be a bad washer in there. Just get whatever new parts you need at the store, if you need to replace a pipe, its not too hard, just get a new one. If the leaks are not coming from the pipes, and is coming from the water heater itself, then IDK what to tell you. If you get a pipe wrench, plumbers putty, thread tape, a pair of needlenose pliers, and a plumbing snake, you can pretty much fix most plumbing issues yourself.

I've had to replace pipes under my sink and install a garbage disposal etc, so if its something easy like that, I can help somewhat, just take pictures if you have problems explaining something or whatever.
the one and only time infinityshock might actually be useful, he isn't around.

The water heater has probably corroded from the inside out. You will need to replace it. If you have 200 amp service to your electrical panel I would reccommend replacing it with a tankless water heater. Otherwise stay with the old fashioned tank type. To install one of those you will need a propane torch, lead solder, flux, and some cleaning cloth if you have copper pipe.

The power company will give you a new electric water heater for free if you tell them you want to replace your old "gas" water heater (if your old one is electric, just lie and tell them it's gas).
Changing the water heater out isn't too hard if you have PVC pipes.
