YOu gave them the creeps. Something about your demeanor, behavior or aura gave them such bad vibes. They got away from you and when you sat there staring at them, one of them had the bright idea to take your picture just incase you end up harming them. So they went together and took your picture and probably sent it to either their friends or parents so that way your creepy ass is known to everyone and if anything happens to them that the authorities should start with the creepy 40 year old man who talks to little kids about where they live and stares at them in public.

Very common thing, one case that comes to mind is the delphi murders where two little girls ("teens" as you prefer to call them) were walking the tracks being kids and this creepy old grandpa maciej that was following them trying to teach them about the age of consent and they took a snapchat video of him saying "Do you girls know what the age of consent is in Connecticut is?" before murdering and raping both of them.
