the Spirit Boxes ? this is interesting. I read that after Philip Garido was arrested (He too was from Antioch. This is also why Antioch Police have been on the radar for years. three or four times the police went to the house and claimed they saw nothing unusual. but the neighbors said the then 20 something year old and her two young children were dirty, living in a tent in the backyard. always dirty looking.
Another thing about Antioch. It was said to be a nice bedroom community where people left their doors and windows unlocked or open in the summer (It gets hot for the bay area. 90s-100s from june to Sept or Oct even) but when the Tech boom occured, the city of Oakland had ran billboards showing Section 8 vouchers to move from the crime inflicted Oakland to a safer neighborhood and would show homes from Antioch. so they used vouchers to push Oakland families farther away from potential Jobs and way out into the Suburbs and farmlands. Sadly, not a stereotype. they brought gang life with them. and the crime rate went through the roof. making the city in the FBI's top 50 worse cities in the USA. some feel it's to create an atmosphere of panic. I read people on this old city forum where people chimed in, saying the same shit they heard or believed in. Judge Judy says its a city that is used as a dumping ground for Sex Offenders. and you have these stories of the Chinese who once lived in rivertown who were told to sell off and they didn't and hundreds of the chinese men were hung in the late 1800s. but then they found the Chinese created these underground tunnels like they did in San Francisco. and there were deals made for sex trades from Hong Kong and prostitution.
Big Trouble in Little China is not a Silly John Carpenter script. it's based on actual underground cities under San Francisco way before Seattle had one. there are ghost towns but still in use under San Francisco.
